School Board Meeting Notes from January 2014 PUBLIC HEARING FOR 2012-2013 TAPR: The administration provided an overview of the Texas Academic Performance Report that is divided into two sections: section one is student performance data and section two includes student, staff, and financial information. Major highlights from the report were: • • • • •

District Academic Rating-Met Standards, Campus Academic Ratings-all campuses earned Met Standards, Exceeded state averages in all subjects at the performance levels of Satisfactory Level II and Advanced Level III, Received a “Superior Achievement” Financial Rating for the 11th consecutive year, Earned higher scores than the state average on the ACT examination in College English Composition, College Algebra, College Social Science, and College Biology, and Earned an average SAT examination score for the Class 2012 that is higher than the regional and the state averages.

No one from the audience had comments. RECOGNITION: Each of the Board members received appreciation and recognition from Kerrville ISD campuses and students as well as from the Kerrville Public School Foundation. INFORMATION ITEMS: 1. Electronic Communication of Friday Reports The administration presented a report concerning electronic communication of the Board of Trustees Friday Reports. 2. Board of Trustees 2014-2015 Meeting Dates Report Dr. Troxell presented the Board of Trustees 2014-2015 Meeting Dates Report. 3. Antler Stadium Masonry Report Dr. Troxell presented the Antler Stadium Masonry Report. 4. Textbook Update Report Mrs. Deb Wells-Beasley presented a review of the textbook adoption process and timeline, as well as the committee’s progress as of January 27th. She also discussed the plans for parent and community access to sample state adopted textbooks for review. 5. Financial Reports The Board reviewed the following monthly financial reports: • General Operating Expenditure Report

Property Tax Collection Report Food Services Report Capital Projects Report

ACTION ITEMS: 1. Consider Annual Financial Report Year Ending August 31, 2013 The Board approved the Annual Financial Report Year Ending August 31, 2013 as presented by Pressler, Thompson and Company. 2. Consider Adoption of “2012-2013 TAPR” The Board approved the “2012-2013 TAPR” (Texas Academic Performance Report). 3. Consider Budget Amendments The Board approved the budget amendments. 4. Consider Purchases of $10,000 or More The Board approved a purchase of $10,000 or more. 5.

Consider Personnel, including but not limited to Employee Performance, Resignations, Retirements, Professional Appointments, Requests for Leave of Absence, and Substitute Teacher List [This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to Section 551.074.] The Board reviewed the professional retirements and resignations: Retirements: Ben Franklin (5-31-14); and Marilyn “Lyn” Gold (5-31-13). Resignations: Deb WellsBeasley (6-16-14); and Tatianna Miranda-Fralin (6-3-14). Deceased: Bob Borjes (12-9-13). The addendum to the KISD Substitute Teacher List was reviewed. The Board approved Heather Engstrom as the Kerrville ISD Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the 2014-2015 school year. The Board approved Richard Sralla as Assistant Principal for the Discipline Alternative Center for the 2014-2015 school year. THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE AT 6:00 P.M. ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2014.
