hat's not to love about washi tape? From bold, solid colours to eclectic patterns, there are no limits in the world of washi. And with the endless variations, there also comes a certain level of addiction to their use; once you have a roll in your hands, your eyes scour the environment for your next washi party-ready project. Take these four projects as a starting point, and fulfil your need to adorn and decorate.

invitations YOU’LL NEED: Washi tapes, pink, red, yellow, blue A5 card, white Assortment of matching envelopes Craft knife Cutting mat Metal ruler Lay strips of washi tape on a cutting mat and, using a craft knife and metal ruler, cut thin strips of each colour. Carefully remove the tape from the cutting mat and lay at angles across the corners of the A5 card, using the image as a guide. Make sure to leave a small amount of tape hanging over the edge of the card. With a small gap between each strip, add three more stripes, one of each colour. Using the metal ruler and craft knife, cut the overhanging tape at the edge of the card. Write the text for your invitations and pop in colour-coordinated envelopes ready for sending to your guests.

Running from the opposite edges, add a pink, yellow, blue and red strip to the card, making sure they cross the other strips at right angles.

If your handwriting is a bit scruffy, you could always print the text for your invitations onto the card first and add the tape afterwards

party favours

In need of washi tape? Check out these lovely designs from stickytiger.co.uk

YOU’LL NEED: Favour box Washi tape, white, red, yellow, blue Craft knife Metal ruler As per the invitation project, cut each tape colour into thin strips. Starting with a yellow strip, run it across the top of the favour box from the top left to the bottom right corner. Add a blue strip running across the yellow strip, starting from half way down the right side, finishing at the bottom of the box, extending around to the side of the box (use the image to help). Add a white and red strip underneath the yellow strip, allowing the red to extend around to the side of the box. Finish off by adding another yellow strip above the blue strip of tape, finishing at the bottom edge of the box top.
