00318 km There are moments in travel when we can't believe where we are. We feel a deep, obsessive need to photograph the location, who was there, and why. To make it official. To engrave the moment and transfer a mental and personal experience onto physical evidence that can be displayed or kept as a record. And even if we could buy a postcard of that place, or we know of the countless photographers who also have made photographs of that same location, we feel the inner desire to make it real for ourselves in a photograph of our own.

The continual and necessary recording of life's travels is explicit here in the photographs taken by a Taxi Driver of his Taxi and his Passenger,

Who is always the same Person, as They make Their way from place to place.

In Almost Every Picture, we see the Passenger and the Taxi in a new location, a place where They have travelled to, or through, or by, on Their

way. We see dramatic mountainscapes, fields, sunsets, city squares, highway rest stops, all taken and kept as if to say: "I have been here. Because of this Passenger. And I am here because of this Car. This Taxi. You have to believe me. This is where We were."

After examining this series, we begin to wonder at this small love affair going on under our noses; that this happened while the rest of us were

somehow sleepwalking through the rush of life. We stop to imagine that out there, on a road somewhere was a Driver, a Taxi Driver, forever taking the same Passenger on a journey to a place quite some distance from home. The two of Them took their time enjoying the views and Their travels together over a period of many years. And once in awhile They stopped so that the Driver could make a photograph and officially record Their existence, Their journey, and the result of Their relationship In Almost Every Picture.
