Press Release

Music by moonlight – Brautigam shines with Beethoven From October 2011, Ronald Brautigam will perform in one of sixteen riveting chamber music concerts in Cambridge. Both internationally acclaimed artists and rising stars will perform amongst the artworks in the intimate setting of the House at Kettle’s Yard. World-renowned countertenor Michael Chance opens the Series on 27 October with a magical programme of songs by Purcell, Butterworth and Schubert. Harpsichordist Maggie Cole will accompany him. The award-winning Sitkovetsky Trio will burst onto the scene with a three-concert residency beginning on 3 November 2011. Excitingly, they are bringing mystery special guests to perform with them, whose identities will be revealed on the actual concert day. The Sitkovetskys are highly regarded as one of the most vibrant and energetic young chamber ensembles and won First Prize at the International Commerzbank Chamber Music Award 2008. On 24 November regular Proms guest cellist Colin Carr gives the first of two complete Beethoven concerts. Carr will perform the stunning Variations on ‘Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen’ from The Magic Flute and three Cello sonatas. For our second Beethoven concert on 23 February 2012, virtuoso pianist Ronald Brautigam will serenade with Music by Moonlight. He will play the popular ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, as well as the 'Eroica Variations', 'Pathétique' and 'Appassionata’ Piano Sonatas. 16-year old Winner of BBC Young Musician 2010, pianist Lara Melda ends the series in May. Also in May, tenor Allan Clayton returns to his roots to perform songs by Purcell, Schubert and Wolf. He first performed at Kettle’s Yard as a student. Now his career sees him preparing for the role of Ferrando in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte in a performance at New York City Opera in 2012. Full programme details are available at http://www.kettlesyard.co.uk/music/chamber/ An annual subscription costs £110 or a term subscription costs £47 and tickets are available to buy online. -ENDS-
