why we need your support? The funding we receive from the University of Cambridge and Arts Council England covers approximately 45% of our running costs. Every year

“Kettle’s Yard is a place where artistic imagination flourishes and is celebrated. It is the medium through which a unique collection establishes the ground for new creation.”

we must find the remaining 55% from a combination of fundraising and income we earn. We rely on the generosity of trusts, foundations, companies and many individuals to sustain and develop Kettle’s Yard for current and future generations.

Kettle’s Yard a unique place for art, music, learning and research

In creating Kettle’s Yard, Jim Ede championed excellence, innovation and ambition in the visual arts, as well as a love of classical music performed in a domestic setting. His vision has created a unique space that fuses art with life. For many it is a place that has the rare power of changing how we see the world and our place within it. In 1966 Jim gifted Kettle’s Yard to the University of Cambridge and from this original philanthropic donation we have continued to grow thanks to the generous support we have received from individuals, foundations and companies. Today we welcome over 70,000 visitors a year to enjoy our unique collection housed in Jim and Helen Ede’s original home, alongside our programme of exhibitions, music and learning.

“Kettle’s Yard is an invaluable visual resource for the university and town that combines a foundational collection made at the birth of British Modernism in Britain with an evolving programme of contemporary art. Kettle’s Yard is a necessary balance to the historical collections of the Fitzwilliam and a lively and living place to experience art.” Antony Gormley
