The Southbank. and CBD. design of the Sculptors’s Hearth should emphasis Birrarung Marr’s characteristic - natrual environment to become the new place of interest. Therefore, the Long narrow design of building connect grass hills, sandy ground and Yarra River all together to give the best of everything that Birrarung Marr have to the visitor and sculptors, at the same time creat a space and opportunity for visitors and tavellers interact with sculptors and their work.

Boat House: Studley Park ACCESS ANAYSIS Selected location

New route, boat house expose to the major traffic. Old route remains.

Old route, narrow and circuitous. not much traffic movement

Studley Park is one of the major Yarra valley parks. It has breathtaking scenery however its natural terrian determined that its hard to find it when you drive 60 kilometers per hour on the top of vallley. So my design start with find a path for visitors and boat lovers to discover here and easy to get down to the bottom of the valley from the mainstream traffic. In order to do that, the building itself has to act like a gateway and a passage to attract more people. Therefore the building goes all the way from the top of the valley to the river. Also the big ouside down dome that hold by the man made cliff really stands out and can bring the boathouse and park on the map.

SPOT SELECTION ANAYSIS Whole building is facing north with great natural lighting condition.

Since the building is right above the river, water will cool it off in summer. better horizontal view angle to improve both boat match and scenery observ-

Multifunctional floating platforms

Plans, Section and Front Elevation Top floating platform with resturant to increase the movement in the building. All seats have view to the outdoor, even the middle seatiings are lifted up half meter on a stage.

Man-made cliff attached to the original cliff, provide the main structural support for the building, also provide carpark and service core.

Man-made waterfall attracts visitors also helps to cool down the tempurature of the outdoor area.

Gateway Installation: Wyndham City

Generative development Path of installation born from relationship between Site A topography and encompassing Road. Data from the site contours and points along each road helped to manilpulate the curve to achieve the installation’s fluid form.

The final design is an array of thin and delicate red transparent strips that are transforming on the landscape as drivers are passing by. The strips are meant to form a surface that envelops their needle-like structures and give the impression of floating in the air. Moreover, as stated in our criteria, the materiality of the design for the strips that are light and gentle will interact with the environment by undulating in the windy Wyndham region and the invisibility of the structures will be achieved by the needle-like steel structures

After the further development of the Grasshopper definition, I’m able to manipulate the shape of the strips to create a more cloud-like effect.

The Wolf House This model is a 1:20 scaled model of The Wolf Headquarter designed by Wolf Architects. I made the base, roof and hanging shells and some of the interior parts. Also fixed some dent and cracks.

Base

This design proposal starts with the idea of race car tracks. When we think about cars, speed and journey will immediately appear in our heads. THE BARLOW TOWER can be viewed as a extension from main street into the building, and also emphasise that driving experience once you enter the building, the endless curvy ramps like a race track , even finding a parking in the city can become joy here. The whole tower is a continuous ramp to allow the easy access for vehicles to all floors. The main building structure is also designed to match this continuous driving idea, the main support of the central core are made of 1.5 meter thick reinforced concrete panels around the curvy void that form by the inner edge of the ramp. When the core goes up to the top it smoothly morph into a balustrade and continuously follow the outer edge of the ramp to the ground. There are also hexagon voids on the central core, they are not only here to create interesting patterns and shadows, but also increase cross ventilation and brightness for the building. The entrance ramp which connect to the La trobe street is creating a effect that represents the power of speed, ground is breaking, columns and front dome is giving way for this driving passage. The whole design proposal is focus on improving the experience for vehicles that occupy this building and also to advertise the building’s relationship with vehicles.
