NICE CONTEMPORARY MUSEUM POLIMI · Architecture Design Ⅱ · Full mark Composition Critic: Guya Bertelli Spring 2019
In the case of having no ideas on site under the small scale, we may find some clues by trying to enlarge the scale. This site locates at sides of Var River. As can be observed, the urban texture on the two sides of river is totally different, where the east is the city while the west is farmland. The river divides this site, but there is no bridge for transportation between the two riversides. Why can’t this museum be the bridge for connecting the two riversides? To this end, we worked at 3 parts. On the city side, we arrange the function for public services underground and make the buildings into an urban square. We also set up a bridge above the river, which serves as our exhibition space with pedestrian path at the top. On the farmland side, we place the main exhibition space invisibly. At the same time, we create a tower that is both the climax of the end of the entire viewing route and a landmark.

02. From Society to Architecture
FELICITY POLIMI · Architecture Design Ⅰ · Full mark Composition Critic: Camilo Rebelo Fall 2018
Aleixo is a taboo place in Porto. Introverted, closed, it is the most “famous” drug trading place in Porto. The complex and harsh social environment is the most prominent feature of this region and the most difficult problem. How to solve this social problem through transformation? In our transformation, on the one hand, through "open site" to transform a closed, introverted, easy to breed crime physical environment into an open living space; On the other hand, through “functional mixing” to change a degenerated social atmosphere, providing a positive, diverse social environment.
Information Of Site 5 Towers ever There were five towers builded by government as social housing , two of which have been demolished due to drugs and crimes. Social condition It is the most famous drug trading place in Porto, the " f re e d o m k i n g d o m " o f criminals and addicts. Traffic condition The traffic of the site is relatively closed, and the relationship between the city and the river is fragmented. Urban texture It was once an industrial area on the left, and many apartment buildings were built. It was an agricultural area on the right, where some dwellings were built.
ALEIXO, PORTO
Methdology Criminal behavior and site condition The closed living environment provides the physical basis for criminal behavior; the single structure of crowd and the degraded social atmosphere are the incentives for criminal behavior. Strategy For the physical environment, we “open towers and site, increasing accessibility; for the social atmosphere, we change the single function (Residential) by mixing functions to increase diversity.

IMPLEMENTATION 01. History and Situation Two of five towers were dismantled. The relationship between the city and the river is fragmented. 02. Reconstruction of traffic The axis passes under towers, keeping site open and connecting the city with the river. Two new buildings are created, restoring five towers.

Modern and Tradition In view of the completely different urban environment on both sides of the site, houses on the east is integrated with the surrounding traditional dwellings. The towers on the west is integrated with the surrounding modern apartment buildings. A dialogue between modern and tradition is formed.
IMPLEMENTATION
01
01. Social behavior and Environment A closed living environment, a single residential function is the environmental basis for crime happening.

02. Openning towers Retaining the structure of the tower, removing the exterior wall, and the bottom floor is open. 03. Connecting towers A block is inserted connecting three towers, and the interior is a public space, including library, restaurant, exhibition hall.. 04. Mixing functions Add the hotel on the upper level of the public space, changing the single function as residence. 05. Multi-level landscape system The top of the tower is residence, and the top of the block are gardens on different levels, forming levels of landscape systems.
Architecture and Topography
In the direction to the river, the topography is constantly falling. Our buildings fall down following the topography, forming roof gardens on the different heights, variety spaces can be created when we take advantage of natural topography, it also provides an open view to the river.

A Building is a mini-society
The benign development of a society cannot be separated from diversity. In the building, there are all kinds of people, including the guests staying in the hotel, the residents living on the top floor, the neighbors coming in to study, the people who come in to eat or work out, and even watch the exhibition. Architecture provides a place for people to discover and create stories. It is a miniature society that is all-encompassing.

03. From History to Architecture
NEW WALL POLIMI · Urban Design Workshop · Full mark Composition Critic: Stabilini Stefano Spring 2019
In the 15th century, the wall served as a defensive tool to defend the city. Nowadays, there are some new functions for the ancient walls. In Piacenza, the urban landscape system was built following these ancient walls. As we think about this project, history has become a important factor that cannot be ignored. In this project, we hope to follow the urban landscape system and use the form of “pillars” to continue the urban landscape system and create a dialogue between different eras.

04. From Nature to Architecture
THE SEA UNIVERSITY CAMPUS OF BCN POLIMI ¡ Urban and Environmental Design Studio Critic: Hofert Feix Karin Elke Spring 2018
Compared with artificial structures, humans have a natural sense of closeness to nature. How can human’s natural affinity for nature be applied to the project? Located in Barcelona's coastal area, the site has a superior beach environment, but a railway divides the beach from the city. We hope to use linear parks to connect the city with the sea and create a dialogue between the city and the sea.
Information Of Site Natural conditions The site is next to the sea and has excellent natural condition (beach). Traffic condition A tram line and motor way separate the site from the city. Public space Building density on urban side is high and public space is insufficient. Urban texture The south side of the site is a residential area, and the west side is mostly a warehouse and trade center.

Extension of urban coastline The site has excellent beach conditions, co n n e c t s t h e b e a c h w i t h u r b a n coastline.
Connecting the beach with the city Breaking the limit between the city and the beach, enhancing the connection between the city and the beach.
