Plan Bangladesh STARTED OPERATIONS IN 1994. AT PRESENT, WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS 5 KEY RESULTS, AS OUTLINED IN OUR COUNTRY.
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THESE RESULTS, WE CARRY OUT 4 COUNTRY PROGRAMMES:
PROTECTION OF VULNERABLE CHILDREN (POVC)
COMMUNITY MANAGED HEALTH CARE (CMHC)
DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT (DRM)
QUALITY PRIMARY EDUCATION (QPE)
WE ALSO OPERATE 8 PROJECTS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO THE FOUR CORE PROGRAMMES: WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WASH), WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN’S HEALTH (WATCH), YOUTH EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT (YED), PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS (PHR), GIRLS’ POWER PROJECT (GPP), ADOLESCENT SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH RIGHTS (ASRHR), EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT (ECCD), WOMEN EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ECONOMIC AND NUTRITIONAL IMPROVEMENT (WEENI).
OUR COUNTRY PROGRAMMES OPERATE IN 5 DISTRICTS, LOCATED IN THE NORTH-WEST (DINAJPUR, NILPHAMARI AND LALMONIRHAT DISTRICTS) AND CENTRE (GAZIPUR AND DHAKA DISTRICTS) OF THE COUNTRY. WE HAVE PROGRAMME UNITS (PUS) LOCATED IN EACH OF THESE DISTRICTS, AS WELL AS A NORTHERN OPERATIONAL SUPPORT UNIT IN NILPHAMARI. WE ALSO HAVE A PRESENCE BEYOND THESE 5 DISTRICTS - WE HAVE PROJECT OFFICES IN BOTH BARGUNA AND KISHOREGANJ DISTRICTS.
IN BARGUNA, WE ARE OPERATING PROJECTS FOCUSED ON EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE AND DEVELOPMENT, DISASTER RISK REDUCTION, AND PARTICIPATORY LEARNING IMPROVEMENT. IN BOTH BARGUNA AND KISHOREGANJ DISTRICTS WE ARE PROVIDING TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO A GOVERNMENT-LED REPLICATION OF COMMUNITY LED TOTAL SANITATION (CLTS) IN BANGLADESH. OUR COUNTRY OFFICE IS LOCATED IN DHAKA.
