Should I perform Hajj or go for Jihad? Translated by the Ansarullah English Team Question #2911 Date: 29-10-2009 Subject: Jihad and its Rulings
Question: Asalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu. Respected Sheikh, If a Muslim intends to go for Jihad but has not yet performed Hajj, and the date of departure for Jihad is a month prior to Hajj, should he go for Jihad or perform Hajj instead? Questioner (Penname): Muhib Abi Abdullah
Reply: In the Name of Allah, all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all that exists. May peace and Blessings be upon His Noble Prophet, and upon all his family and companions. To proceed:
If this Mujahid brother is needed by the Mujahideen and a delay in his arrival will cause inconvenience to them, then it is incumbent upon him to immediately join Jihad and his Mujahideen brothers without any delay. However, if the Mujahideen are not in dire need of this brother, then he should proceed to perform Hajj and join Jihad as soon as he has fulfilled the rites of Hajj. This way he would have fulfilled both obligations while preferring the one with limited time to the one with more time. And Allah knows best. And All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all that exists.
