ARCHITECTURAL PORTFOLIO

ABOUT ME Hello Having been born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, an interest and passion for architecture has existed in me, thanks to the old and mysterious constructions found throughout city. Since the beginning of my adolescence, I have dedicated myself to developing necessary skills to become a professional architect. Such hobbies include sketching and digital designing, which I practice, daily. I enjoy self-learning and challenging myself. I work well independently but also I enjoy working collaboratively on large projects with a team. I am still experimenting with who I am as an artist however I would say a huge source of inspiration comes from the French Gothic style. By using French Gothic as a muse, my plan in the future is to combine this style of architecture with Vietnamese style in my buildings, since my country used to be a French colony. What you see presented in this portfolio hopefully proves that I have enough ability and necessary skills to become a prospective student at your school and a leading and inspirational architect in the future.

THE CONTRAST

- Khang Le -

- Photograph + Story -

MY STORY: For most buildings, as they get older, they become more and more precious, especially when they could keep their original building style, materials etc... Those buildings receive the protection, respects and estimation from the society, no matter how many modern buildings later that are more effective and more useful than the old ones. The left picture is an old building that was built in 1900s in Hai Phong city of Vietnam, and has been under government protection for a long time.

However, that is not true for people. Modern society does not need anyone who keeps standing in a position. If they do not change themselves, they would be eliminated at some points. The right pictures show the sadness and tiredness of an old man who has worked in motorbike taxi (A very common traditional means of transportation in Vietnam in the 2000s) for a long time. His customers can have better services from many new companies such as Grab and Uber...He is being replaced step by step.
