KH URBAN SANCTUARY
ARCH DESIGN & TECH II - Sophomore - Spring 2012 Professor Claudia Paraschiv
This project entailed designing an urban sanctuary to accomodate all forms of religion. The idea was to focus on various light techniques in order to create a unique environment for the public to reflect. The focus of this design was filtered light and how best to use it to create form and experience. Using a system of monoliths, light was brought in to create bulding form and placement of program. Nature was also brought in to place emphasis on this notion of reflection.

KH FERRY TERMINAL
TECTONICS STUDIO - Junior - Fall 2012 Professor Elizabeth Ghiseline
This project was sited on Old Northern Bridge in Boston. The challenge was connecting land to water and creating a social hub through the form of a ferry terminal.
The focus of this design was, “the answers are all there” and “mystery” based on the analysis of day and night time, respectively. The idea was to capture the essence of pereception through a system of walls that interact with light.

KH AXIS DANCE STUDIO
COMPREHENSIVE STUDIO - Senior - Fall 2013 Professor Ingrid Strong
The objective behind this project was to design a studio for Axis Dance Company and to show our understanding of building systems and site analysis. The location of our site was in the South End of Boston, MA. It was adjacent to the McKinley South End Academy.
The focus I took with this project was using the urban context around the site and the relationship it could have with the company to form my design. Upon analysis, my design represented the sense of lightness vs. rigidity and mass. A tension cable structure was the driving force in this design to juxtapose lightness and mass.

KH GATEWAY HOTEL
COMMUNITY DESIGN STUDIO - Senior - Spring 2013 Professor Margarita Iglesia
The objective in the community design studio was to collaborate with my fellow classmates in creating a master plan where we would all choose a parcel of land and create our own design intervention. In collaborating with my classmates I was responsible for creating the masterplan and putting together all of our ideas into one. Our site was near Forest Hills station and Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA. My approach to the project was to design a hotel and extended living complex that would become the landmark and gateway into our community development. The main concept behind this design was creating mulitple buidlings that were organized in a way that highlighted the site and extended the main social corridor. The Emerald Necklace was also taken into consideration and passed through the actual buildings through multiple levels of indoor gardens.

COMMUNITY DESIGN INTERN - Summer 2013 Wentworth Institute of Tech. - Erik Miller In the summer of 2013 I had my first co-op with Erik Miller at the Center of Community Learning and Partnerships at Wentworth Institute of Technology. I worked with the faculty at JP Manning Elementary School to redesign their front entrance and playground area, as well as outdoor learning environments in the back of the school.
I proposed an installation project that would organize the playground and entrance area and create fun and interactive spaces for the children, parents, and community.

HOSPITALITY DESIGN INTERN - Summer 2014 CKI design studio
As a design intern at CKI I was given the opportunity to experience most of the services CKI provides to its clients. The main project I worked on was the new Strega restaurant, STRIP By Strega, that is going into the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston. This was a very fast-paced and exciting project to be a part of and I was able to gain more experience in the various stages of a built project. I performed tasks such as drawing up all of the interior elevations, furniture and design details, AV drawings, specifications of sliding walls and power operated walls, and exterior renderings for the storefront. I had the opportunity to design a power operated feature art wall that will separate the main dining and the VIP bar area.
Other projects I worked on were Seoul Kitchen where I did an exterior rendering and the Marlborough Tavern where I initiated work including furniture plans and floor finish plans.
