Hairston) A vibrant living composer, pianist, and arranger, Jacqueline Hairston’s works have been performed by many renowned artists, choirs, and orchestras. The published and celebrated composer has a distinguished record in arranging African-Diaspora music and music of diverse genres. She is a graduate of Howard University School of Music and The Julliard School. Yes, Jesus Loves Me (arr. John L. Cornelius, II) A member of ASCAP, John Cornelius’ works are garnering increasingly frequent performance throughout the United States. His output includes a number of chamber works, orchestral works, musical theater, opera, and song cycles. A Professor of Music at Prairie View A&M University, he is a graduate of Jackson State University and Rice University. The Battle is the Lord’s (by V. Michael McKay) Churches throughout the country have been inspired by the words and music of V. Michael McKay. As a well-respected conductor, clinician, speaker, songwriter, and author, McKay has won two Dove Awards and is a 2000 inductee into the Gospel Hall of Fame and is leading the charge to build the Gospel Music Haus & Museum in Houston. He attended Texas Southern University.
Dr. Jolie Rocke has performed as a featured soprano in the USA, Europe, and Far North Queensland Australia. She is a versatile vocalist of varied repertoire including but not limited to opera, jazz, gospel, and musical theater. Her passion for music and the desire to pass it on to her students leads her to produce concerts, direct community arts programs, and train aspiring singers as a private voice teacher, coach, and mentor. A Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster Artist since 2020, Dr. Rocke is Executive Artistic Director of Driven Theater Company, Director of Music & Arts at First Unitarian Universalist Church, owner of Rocke Vocal Studio and Lecturer of Music at Prairie View A & M University. Her scholarly research highlights the accomplishments of African American music and musicians. Dr. Rocke founded HBCU Arts™ with the mission to preserve culture by fostering workforce and entrepreneurial development to amplify the multidisciplinary creative expressions of artists from HBCUs. Andrew M. Lee is a versatile musician, arts administrator, and educator. He founded DC Strings Workshop in 2017 with a mission to bring music to all parts of the DMV region and promote diversity in classical music. The organization has paid more than $3MM to area musicians, youth scholarships and teaching artists, and hosted hundreds of concerts in the DC region. Andrew currently serves as the Executive Director of The Washington Conservatory of Music.
Johnny Walker, Jr. has a B.A. Cello Performance from University of Maryland Baltimore County, a Certificate of Participation from Jazz at Lincoln Center’ Band Director Academy and is an Associate Member with the Suzuki Association of America. He has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center, NPR Tiny Desk Concert, Carter Baron Amphitheatre, Embassy of France, and the White House. Johnny was a Teaching Artist at Washington Performing Arts and a Cello instructor at Suitland High School Center for Visual and Performing Arts.
