More About Us Preparing For The Future While hands-on learning is the focus at MVCTC, we offer rigorous academic preparation for our students with technology integrated into every aspect of our curriculum. We are preparing our students for working, learning, and living in a highly competitive global economy. Times have changed. Today, more than half of our students choose to go on to college. We are partners with area colleges, universities, and apprenticeship programs that help us develop programs that provide our students a seamless transition to college or other post secondary education options.
Student Admission MVCTC admits students to each career technical program using criteria developed by the staff in cooperation with representatives from partner schools and approved by the MVCTC Board of Education. In our selection process, we try to select those students who we feel may benefit from a career technical curriculum. If a student is not accepted into his/her first choice career technical program, that student may be interviewed to seek out other career program choices. A waiting list is kept for each career program, and students are placed as space becomes available.
School Schedule Students attend MVCTC from 8:05 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day. The school day consists of hands-on career technical program training, English, science, math, and elective classes. Transportation is provided by each partner high school. Apprenticeship, Internship, and Open Enrollment students must provide their own daily transportation.
Graduation Students can earn eight credits each year at MVCTC, which are awarded by semester. They receive their high school diplomas from their home high schools. Upon completion of a career technical program, a student must have good grades, good attendance, and demonstrate competencies in the career program. A student will receive a portfolio from MVCTC which displays a profile of both professional and personal accomplishments. This portfolio is called a Career Passport. 2

Early College Connection MVCTC is preparing students for success! Through a variety of programs, MVCTC students are preparing for college, earning college credits, and getting on-the-job training. The Articulation Program requires that students spend two years at MVCTC, followed by two years at a partnering college or technical school. Selected credits earned at MVCTC are transferable to the partner college where they apply toward a degree. In the College Tech Prep Program, students focus on developing specific skill sets in technical, high-demand fields. Students taking this pathway to college will find themselves entering college at a higher readiness level and with college credits already to their name—and, often, with a Tech Prep Scholarship for their achievements. The School-To-Work-Apprenticeship Program at MVCTC is a nationally recognized program. MVCTC students are matched with registered apprenticeship employers in their chosen field of interest while they are attending MVCTC. Students find this option rewarding, as it allows for immediate transition to the workforce with the opportunity to pursue higher education. As a result of solid work practices and ethics learned at MVCTC, many employers may offer tuition reimbursement to assist students in their career development. MVCTC, Miami University of Middletown (MUM), and Wright State University have partnered to deliver Dual Credit courses to our students. Dual Credit is not PSEO. Dual Credit allows students the opportunity to remain on the MVCTC campus, take college-level courses, and earn both high school and college credits. Who’s going to college? At MVCTC the questions is: Who’s not going to college?
Ohio Graduation Test All Ohio high school students are required to pass the Ohio Graduation Test that covers reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
