PROPOSED SITE: UBIN QUARRY VIEWPOINT
[1°24’29.4”N 103°57’20.5”E]
SUPERIMPOSED: PUTTING A 3D MODEL OF THE CABIN ON A PHOTO OF THE SITE GIVES US A ROUGH IMAGE OF HOW THE SITE WOULD LOOK LIKE

EACH RESEARCHER HAS THEIR OWN BED LOFT. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN PRIVATE SPACE IN THIS SMALL CABIN THEY SHARE, WHICH IS A WELCOME BARRIER AFTER A LONG DAY OF WORK
THE IDEA OF A REVERSE PIRATE MALL WAS BORN FROM THE MARRIAGE OF MY STUDY ON THE HISTORY OF PIRATES THAT LIVED IN SINGAPORE DURING THE 1800S AND A SITE OBSERVATION STUDY OF THE MOUNT FABER/ VIVOCITY AREA OF THIS CURRENT 21ST CENTURY, WHICH HAS TRANSFORMED THE FORMER VIEW OF KAMPONGS LITTERED AROUND THE LANDSCAPE TO A JUNGLE OF HIGH RISE OFFICE BUILDINGS, HDBS AND SHOPPING MALLS. THIS ARCHITECTURE PROJECTS MY IDEA OF HOW THESE PIRATES WOULD EARN THEIR LIVELIHOOD IN THIS CENTURY WHERE PIRACY IS NOW ILLEGAL WHILE STILL GIVING OVER A NOD TO THEIR ROOTS.
THE REVERSE PIRATE MALL
WAKING UP GETTING READY FOR THE DAY BREAKFAST BEFORE A LONG DAY AT WORK WAITING AT THE DOCK FOR THE OTHERS BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE MEANS IT’S AN EASIER RAID IF THERE IS NO RAID FOR THE DAY THE PIRATES WILL GO FISHING TO FEED THEIR FAMILY, SO THAT THEY WILL NOT GO THROUH THE DAY HUNGRY
WHEN THE PIRATES DO FIND A SHIP TO RAID, THEY WILL GATHER AND DRIVE THE SHIP ONTO ONE OF THE MANY ISLANDS AROUND SINGAPORE THERE, THEY FIGHT THE SAILORS WITH WHAT WEAPONS THAT THEY HAVE AND SNATCH THEIR LOOT
AFTER THE RAID, THE PIRATES WILL DIVIDE THE LOOT AMONG THEMSELVES; THE CAPTAIN IS THE FIRST TO SELECT THEIR LOOT TO TAKE HOME, THEY ARE ALSO THE ONES WHO TAKE BACK THE MOST AMOUNT OF LOOT. THE OTHER PIRATES IN HIS FLEET ARE LEFT TO SHARE THE REMAINING LOOT AMONG THEMSELVES
BACK IN THE PAST... ..NOW IN THE PRESENT
the pirate mall will need you to wear lose clothes it is a fight for what you need to get, so clothes lose like what the people in the past used to wear would be ideal
the pirate mall is entirely on land, the boats that the pirates used back then have no use on land but the shopper’s chosen form of “loot carrier” will act as their “boat” the “pirates” in this case shoppers, will have to fight with each other to get their loot if someone else has h it
aftter a “raid” the shopper will divide their loot among themselves if in a group, their mvp, the “captian” will get to take whatever they want back home without paying because all their items are “pirated” “pir
EARLY DRAFT COLLAGE CONCEPT OF THE REVERSE PIRATE MALL BASED FROM THE ACTIVITIES STATED ON THE TIMELINE COLLAGE FROM THE PREVIOUS PAGE
SECOND COLLAGE OF CONCEPT, FINALLY NAMING IT THE REVERSE PIRATE MALL, KEEPING TO THE VIBE OF A REGULAR MALL WITH LONG CORRIDORS WHILE THE MAIN STRUCTURE FOLLOWS THAT OF A TRADITIONAL KAMPONG
ENLARGED VIEW OF MINI SHOP INTERIOR COLLAGES THAT PREDICT THE TYPE OF WARES THE “PIRATES” WOULD SELL
A SPACE FOR AUCTIONS WHERE SELLERS WALK ON THE MIDDLE AISLE LIKE A RUNWAY AND THE HIGHEST BIDDER WINS LIKE THE BLACK MARKETS THE PIRATES USED TO SELL THEIR WARES IN
LOCATED AT THE FOOT OF MOUNT FABER, THE CHOSEN SITE USED TO BE WHERE THE PIRATE KAMPONGS START ALL THE WAY TO THE SHORE. THIS LOCATION IS ALSO NEAR OTHER SHOPPING MALLS AND THEIR UNUSED AND OUT-OF-SEASON NEW GOODS WILL COME HERE FOR A SECOND LIFE.
