In this room, It is lack of lighting at the workspace but it is good for air ventilation. The balcony side provides good air ventilation to the interior room (Shown in Figure 2.0.1 ). But there is a problem when a room has a balcony. From 8am-5pm , the temperature is quite high and causes the problem of hot and stuffy. Although there is a ceiling fan , but due to it is an old ceiling fan , it is slow and it makes some noise that I feel annoying. There is airconditioning, but I quite less to use it because I want to save money. It is a commercial rate building so its electrical cost is higher than other landed houses.

I used the ceiling fan more often than my air conditioning. At night , I’ll switch on my airconditioning sometimes ,but I can feel it is too cold and it is old because its case is yellowish. At night , I can feel my workspace is the lack of lighting, although there is a fluorescent downlight on top (Shown in Figure 2.0.2). To conclude it , my room is the lack of lighting at night and it is hot and stuffy environment in daylight.

2.1 Lux Light Study and Comparison at workspace

In my study and research online, the average of Lux in bedroom for general used is 100-300lux and for task used it is better to get 500 lux. ( Shown in Table 2.1.1)

In Figure 2.1.2, it shows that the lux light in my workspace when I switch on my downlight in night.

Average Lux value: 37 In Figure 2.1.3, it shows that the lux light in my workspace when I open my curtain in daylight.

Average Lux value: 842

Table 2.1.1

Above the comparison of lux light in the same place , we can know that my room is lack of lighting and the value of 37 lux is below than the research that I’ve found and value of 842 lux is above a lot than the standard value of 500 lux. So, it is necessary to increase the number of lightings in this room .It is not only for comfort but also a healthy environment.
