Thank You
I would like to extend a heartfelt Thank-you to all the people of the North Shuswap who helped Suzanne and I over the past year. The meals, cookies, pies, kind words, support and prayers were much appreciated. Also, everyone who looked after the house and yard and cared for Lucy and Jasper allowing me the time to focus on Suzanne and her journey.
Thanks to each and all.

It is really amazing how quickly this year is going. Even with COVID restrictions, we are managing to keep a positive learning environment, with lots of opportunities for our students, both in and out of the classroom. Division 1 (and weather permitting Divisions 2 and 3) recently took advantage of the rink at Farrell’s Field. They walked up to the facility and had a great time skating in the great outdoors. Mr. Schmidt would like to thank the CSRD for the use of the rink and Brian and Karen Ruddick for the fantastic job they did removing the fresh snow before the class’ arrival. The ice was fabulous!
The PAC fundraiser, selling pies from the Shuswap Pie Company, went quite well. A big thanks to those who supported the fundraiser, to the PAC organizers and to the Shuswap Pie Company for collaborating on the project. I know I was anticipating the fabulous pies and my family is savouring the flavours!
Pink Shirt Day was February 24th. Staff and students donned pink to show support for the anti-bullying campaign. It is a reminder to all of us that young or old, showing kindness and compassion to each other is paramount for healthy relationships. By celebrating our differences, we become stronger both as individuals and as community.
As Spring Break approaches, report cards have been prepared and distributed. The new format took a little getting used to with regards to format and learning a new program but rest assured, your child’s teacher has worked hard to share your child’s progress with you. This new program, using the MYED platform, better aligns us with reporting in other districts throughout the province and will eventually allow parents to access student progress online and at various times throughout the year.
Finally, as we near the end of winter (hopefully!), a huge bouquet goes out to the snow clearing crew from Spooner Electric. They were on the job bright and early when the parking lot and sidewalks needed clearing. Great Job! Thanks for making our parking/walking surfaces safe for traversing!
At this time, District 83 is still on track for the break to commence on March 13, with a return to classes on March 29. However you spend it, practice safe COVID protocols and enjoy the break!
