Dearest Children, There is a lot about me – about Christmas – that you do not yet know. One belief that has been passed down through the years is that there are “naughty” and “nice” children ...
You see, you don’t have to be perfect to be WONDERFUL.
The truth is it is not quite that simple.
You don’t have to be perfect, to be LOVED.
And you don’t have to be perfect, for your
Christmas dreams to come true!
(like my dream of learning how to surf!)
Even nice children can sometimes be naughty.
They are still deserving of a
magical Christmas!
Being nice is not just a way to get on Santa’s good side...
It is actually a gift you give yourself!
Can you think of some nice things you have done this year or that others have done for you?

The next thing I would like to share with you, is that I do not often “see you when you are sleeping” or “know when you’re awake.”
I have a lot of hobbies, you see. If I were to try to watch you all year ‘round, I would have no “me time” and I might start to get a bit grumpy like this little guy here ...
BUT ‌ When you least suspect, I might drop in for a surprise visit!
Always be your best self. Even when no one is watching. Especially when no one is watching.
Next up, children, you should all know that —every once in a while— there may be a Christmas wish I am unable to fulfill... (Like a live cat riding a live unicorn, for example. That is just a bit too complicated.)
I understand that this can be disappointing, but there is always a very good reason why I can’t fulfill certain wishes. One reason could be for your safety.
For instance, I feel it would be unwise to gift a Formula 1 race car to a four year-old.
(100% of Moms agree, by the way)
It would also be unwise to gift a pet to a child whose family might not be able to care for it properly at that time.
There are many reasons I am very careful about gifting pets and none of them are because you don’t deserve one. Pets require a lot of time and attention and a promise to care for them that may last until you are an adult! Sometimes the timing just isn’t right for your family. And that would definitely not be good for a precious animal or for you.
And one more VERY IMPORTANT thing about gifts: Some years, depending on what is going on in the world, even Santa’s workshop might be short on supplies or the elves might be needed elsewhere to do important work. And so there may be fewer gifts under the tree.
When this happens, you may feel like this: (and that is okay!)
BUT YOU MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER: The greatest gifts cannot be seen or touched and are worth much more than any toy that can be wrapped up in a box. You are incredibly special, valuable and LOVED. More than words could ever say. More than can be measured. There is more love for you in the universe than I could ever carry in my sleigh.
And that is the REAL magic of Christmas.
