KIDS FIRST PARENTS SECOND Curriculum for Children Ages 4-5. LITTLE FRUIT and the Six Steps to Courage!
1
---------------------------
---------------------
Before we begin Your Path to Courage, have you ever been scared? I know Little Fruit was in the book “Mommy and Daddy Troubles.”
2
It’s really scary that Mom and Dad don’t live together anymore.
3
I know that Little Fruit did not know how to feel or even know what to say. I know that he’s not alone.
So it’s time to call Time Out for a second, so you can have time just for you.
4
Let’s start with asking a question. You ask a question so you can find out what is going on. So let’s ask a question, that is our first step……
------------------
#1 --

FIRST STEP Ask a question! What’s going to happen? Why did this happen? When do I see Dad?
Is everything going to be okay?
Do we have to move?
Am I going to lose my friends?

THIRD STEP FIND COURAGE
9
Courage may be found in a badge, a mask or even, in you! Courage is something that makes you brave, so you don’t have to be scared anymore. In the movie Spiderman, a young boy found courage by putting on Spiderman’s mask to crawl out of a falling car. Spiderman’s mask gave the boy courage to act and face his fears. In our book “Mommy and Daddy Troubles” Little Fruit put his courage badge on and was able to face his fear of what was inside his new bedroom.
10
So‌..what will give you courage? In the story Wizard of Oz, the cowardly lion followed the yellow brook road to find courage. During his travel, the cowardly lion faced his fears all by himself and became the bravest character in the story, braver than the Tin Man, and braver than the scarecrow. When all was said and done, the cowardly lion found that he was brave all by himself. All the cowardly lion lacked was confidence!
How have you been brave in the past? _________________________________________ _________________________________________ _________________________________________ _________________________________________ 11

FOURTH STEP What can I change?
12
We’ve all seen magicians use their Magic wands and change flowers into butterflies. It seems like magic wands can do just about anything. People love seeing magician’s use their magic wands to change one thing into another. Most of us do not believe that magic wands actually work but it’s fun to think that they could!
The question is if you had a magic wand, what would you change? Maybe you can change something and then again maybe you cannot. The important thing is talking through your problem. Sometimes when we talk through a problem can come up with solutions that will change things for the better. 13

FIFTH STEP FIND SOMEONE TO TALK TO!
15
In our book “Little Fruit Phone Home” Little Fruit has the hardest time sharing how he’s feeling. Little Fruit misses his dad, and finds himself complaining about how bad his new life is now that his mom and dad live apart.
16
When Little Fruit is reminded that life must go on‌
17
‌..he turns to the one person he can talk to, his Grandma Napple!
Little Fruit had lots of questions. Grandma Napple was there to help sort them out.
18
Grandma Napples are found anywhere. Napples may be your Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle or even a teacher. Grandma Napples could be your big sister or even a next door neighbor. Who is your Napple ? __________________________________________________ What would you want them to know? ___________________

SIXTH STEP SAY “KIDS FIRST PARENTS SECOND!” I’M A KID AND I HAVE COURAGE!
20
21
THESE COUPONS MIGHT JUST HELP. IF I MISS MY DAD OR MY MOM I SHOULD BE ABLE TO CALL THEM WHEREVER I MAY BE…..
22
IF THINGS GET REALLY HARD I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SAY “ENOUGH, I WANT TO GET OUT, I’M GOING TO SHOUT!”
23
SO LET ME BE A KID LET ME LEARN AND GROW. BEING A KID IS ALREADY HARD ENOUGH, OR DIDN’T YOU KNOW?
