Curriculum Welcome to Kids For Thought Summer Series Month 1 curriculum! We are excited for you to get started using our product. We have designed each lesson plan to include: Math, science, crafts, songs, rhymes, letters,numbers, large and small motor skills! We also offer suggestions on snacks, books, and field trips to match the theme of the week. We also give examples on how to involve the children with each lessons, songs, and rhymes. You will never run out of fun things to do and the children will learn through play. Please look through the weekly themes before you start. There may be preparation for some of the games and lessons. Most of the materials you will need to carry out each theme are included. Things that you will need to provide are book suggestions and supplies such as scissors and glue. Bring your enthusiasm and have fun! There are small parts included in the curriculum that are considered a choking hazard for children. Please supervise the children when you are using the small pieces.

Farm Life Theme Day One Greeting Ask the children sit in a circle. Sing “We’re glad to see you here” to the tune of “The Farmer in the Dell “ We’re glad to see you here, It gives us joy and cheer, Sure, it’s true, we say to you, We’re glad to see you here. Discuss & Do This week we are talking about farms. Ask the children what they would see at a farm? What the would hear? Smell? What kind of animals? Be sure to remember to write the childrens comments in the discuss and do daily worksheets included in the packet. Have the children pretend to be their favorite farm animal. Ask them to show you how the animal moves and sounds. Science and Math Science - Have your sensory table filled with and farm animals. Allow children to have imaginative play. If you do not have a table, use a large container with a lid Math - Ask children to complete the chicken and egg number worksheet label #1.

Introduce the letter Ff today. Start by asking the children what sound the letter Ff makes. Explain that farm starts with the letter Ff. Talk about other words that start with Ff. Play I spy with the children and see what they can spy that starts with the letter Ff. Show the children how to make an Ff in sign language using the chart included in the packet.

Crafts Hand Print Duck Crafts Items needed - Yellow paint, yellow construction paper, orange construction paper,wiggly eyes, scissors and glue. Paint the childrens hand prints for the duck tail feathers and set aside to dry. Have the children cut out the shapes (you may need to help the younger children) Shapes to cut include a large half circle for the body, a smaller circle for the head, an orange triangle for the beak and two ovals for the ducks feet. Glue the shapes together to make the ducks and add the hand print tail feathers. Then glue on wiggly eyes.
End your day Ask the children to talk with their parents about farms. Make sure to send home the discuss and do daily sheets.
