Design a “pop-up space that will occupy public and private property for temporary events perfomances and commercial and civic ventures. Based on the reasearch of Food in Philadelphia, my idea is about to design an event that commerce venues about Food and Drink. Philadelphia has multicultrues with international immagrants. However, there are a few of people know about food cultures f rom an-

other contries. Thus, the design is aimed to bring cultures for this foos event. Combining cultures and

food, multicultural food and drink are created so that people can come and join together. The pop-up restaurant is designed as a way that many chefs can not only showcase their talents to a wider audience but also many immigranted chiefs can show their food cultures to people.

PLAN Kien Trinh | Portfolio 2019 | Thomas Jefferson University

“Nova library is a place of learning, a home for knowledge, a space that our collective culture and as we evolve so to does the library”. In my opinion, library is not only simply a location to collect and organize print resources but also, they have become an integral part of learning culture and academics. My design is aimed to rethink roles and rethink space for more COLLABORATION AND STUDY SPACES . I focus on main two functions so that Nova library becomes more team spaces oriented and less individualistic, there is a new demand for collaboration space for people. Instead of following old school style of libraries before that were “conf ined” in a space, Novo library is created in order to provide people more critical collaborative spaces. There will be no more longer library tables or “abysmal” bookshelves. There will is a mix of formal spaces and informal spaces which can create areas and spaces where all people can have their needs met. For example, one of my idea is creating both of indoor and outdoor spaces for readers and it is made sure that sound control is critical to the coexistence of lively, sometimes loud, areas with these more quiet spaces. Furthermore, bringing natural lighting and f resh air are trading of modern architecture nowadays. Sustainable practices for Nova library are considered and my idea increase the demand for more natural light and views to the outside. By this way, it can serve the needs of more people and help them enjoy reading and focus on studying i n t h e l i b r a r y .

THE STRUCTURE Outer f rame is based on the distribution of the inner stress in the tall building under pressure of the winds and floor loads. Structure of the building consists of four peripheral cores, providing space for vertical circulation, braced together with diagrid, and f rom magestructural normative f rame superiposed on it. Space between the outer diagrid and bracing of the cores is used for solar chimney. Modular light f rame blocks are connected to the structure through beams attached to the steel structure of the wall.

The trail is a space that adults and parents can spend time talking, chatting and sightseeing to the woodland. However, connecting the trail and playscape will force and bring parents who can enjoy with their children.

Ampheretheather sitting provides small playscape for children and also let the people go down to hill of the park, sit and enjoy the views to the city, traff ic and highway.

Based on the original boxer trail, a new trail is created and expanded to the woodland. People on the trail can use the spaces of the new trail for grouping and talking. New activities can be created through seasons. People can go jogging, running and going
