Every spring and fall I say the same thing: This is my favorite season—ever! It’s not hyperbole (or B.S.), either. You might think that after 42 years, the life of the shopkeeper could become stale. But the truth is there has never been a more exciting time to be on our end of the clothing business—or yours. When I reflect back to the early years of Kilgore Trout and compare what we were able to offer then to now, it honestly blows my mind.
The same technology that has become an indispensable part of our everyday lives has upended—and invigorated—the clothing business like nothing since the development of the sewing machine. Technical fabric blends show up in everything from suits to jeans, making clothing more comfortable, better-fitting, and better-looking than ever. Computer-aided design has reached the shop floor, with resources like Atelier Munro able to build a wardrobe made just for you, sourced globally, tailored locally and in your hands in weeks.
Our new designer resources are pushing the fashion envelope. Meanwhile, our legacy brands including Ermenegildo Zegna, Canali, Isaia and Samuelsohn are raising the bar like never before. The past year has been a particular delight, as guys have embraced and rediscovered tailored clothing in numbers we haven’t seen in years—especially the new generation of Kilgore Trout shoppers.
So I’ll say it once again: This is my favorite season—ever!
