Rathmore students are Mental Health Heroes

The Student Wellbeing Team in Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra were delighted to receive the news last week that they have been awarded the Amber Flag from Pieta House for their work promoting wellbeing in the school for students and staff.

The group which consists of students from 1st to 5th year took part in Headstrong Training with Cycle Against Suicide at the start of the year to understand the importance of focusing on student wellbeing They met throughout the year as a group and were supported by Niamh

Dwyer, Guidance Counsellor and teacher Aoiffe Hickey to organise various mental health awareness events and wellbeing activities for different year groups and staff.

As well as raising the Amber Flag to mark the end of the school year, the Student Wellbeing Team members have all received ‘Mental Health Hero’ Certificates from Pieta House and participation certificates from Cycle Against Suicide.

“We are very proud of all of the students and grateful for their important work, effort and enthusiasm throughout the year in promoting mental health and wellbeing awareness in SPS,” said principal, Denis Kerins.
