What you need to know about marine insurance

What does Marine Insurance typically cover?

Marine insurance in Ireland typically covers a range of risks associated with maritime activities and transportation. While specific policy terms and coverage may vary among insurance providers, here are some common areas that marine insurance in Ireland typically covers:

Hull and Machinery: This coverage protects the vessel itself against physical damage or loss caused by perils such as collisions, accidents, or natural disasters.

Protection and Indemnity (P&I): P&I insurance provides liability coverage for the shipowner and operator. It typically covers third-party liabilities, such as bodily injury or property damage caused by the insured vessel, pollution liabilities, crew liabilities, wreck removal costs, and legal defence expenses.

Cargo Insurance:

This type of insurance covers goods or cargo being transported by sea, providing protection against risks like loss, damage, theft, or non-delivery. It may be taken out by the cargo owner, importer, exporter, or the carrier.

Freight Insurance:

Freight insurance covers the loss of anticipated income or freight charges due to damage or loss of cargo during transit. It protects the interests of the shipper or carrier.

Marine Liability:

Marine liability insurance covers liabilities arising from marine-related activities, such as ship repair, shipbuilding, chartering, stevedoring, or other maritime services.

War Risks:

Given the global nature of maritime trade, marine insurance policies may include coverage for risks associated with war, strikes, civil unrest, piracy, and acts of terrorism.

It’s important to note that the specific coverage and policy terms can vary between insurance providers, and it’s advisable to consult with an Insurance professional and to review individual policy documents for precise details regarding coverage

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & 1ST ANNIVERSARY SCANNELL (NEE LYNE)

Treasured memories of Kathy Scannell (nee Lyne) Gortalee,

Clonkeen, Killarney.

29/02/1924 - 23/06/2022

As we fondly remember Kathy on her first anniversary, her family wishes to extend a deep appreciation and sincere thanks for the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss.

Thanks to everyone who called to the house, attended the funeral mass and burial, and all those who provided emotional and practical support during our time of bereavement. To those who travelled long distances to be with us, telephoned, sent mass and enrolment cards, messages of sympathy, floral tributes and online condolences, we are truly grateful.

Our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Padraig Kennelly, who celebrated Kathy’s funeral mass, for his kind words of comfort and the practical and spiritual guidance he provided to our family in our time of sorrow. We would like to express our gratitude to all who participated in the funeral mass, the sacristan, minister of the eucharist, those who did the readings, prayers of the faithful, the reflection, brought the gifts to the altar, the singers and musicians.

Special thanks to the staff at Park Medical Practice, especially Dr. Fidelma Cronin, Sheahan’s Pharmacy Killarney, attending public health, community and palliative care nurses, physio and occupational therapists, health care support assistant Colette, for the respect, care and support provided to Kathy over the years, and during her final days. A huge thank you to Rita for the kindness, patience and sensitivity you showed our mom over the past six years. We know she deeply appreciated the care you provided. You made it possible for her to remain in her home until the end of her life, for that we are truly thankful.

For the efficient, dignified and extremely sensitive approach to every request, we would like to recognise the great service and support offered by Danny at Quills Funeral Directors. Thanks for the superb management of the funeral arrangements. Thanks to those who prepared mom’s final resting place at Killaha cemetery. Thanks to James for the beautiful accordion music at the graveside and the Kerry Way for providing refreshments after the burial.

We wish to thank our dedicated and committed extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends who helped and supported us prior to and after the funeral, and who demonstrated such an outpouring of love for all of us, your contributions truly made our loss more bearable.

As it would be impossible to thank each of you individually, please accept this acknowledgement as a token of our heartfelt appreciation. The holy sacrifice of the mass will be offered for your intentions.

If

With Thanks & Gratitude, The Scannell Family.

30th Anniversary Corbett

In loving memory of John Corbett

Late of Woodlawn and Holy Cross, Firies

Who died on 22nd June 1993. R.I.P.

There is always a face before us

A voice we would love to hear

A smile we will always remember

Of a brother we loved so dear

Deep in our hearts lies a picture

More precious than silver or gold

It’s a picture of our brother

Whose memory will never grow old.

Loved and remembered by his brothers

Mike, Thomas, and Niall, sisters Lil, Siobhán and Marie, and their families.

John’s Anniversary Mass is on Saturday 24th June at 6.15pm in St. Mary’s Cathedral.

4th Anniversary

O’SULLIVAN

3rd Anniversary

DENNEHY In loving memory of Neil (Con) Dennehy Beloved husband, father and brother Castleknock, Dublin, and late of Kilbrean, Killarney. The family thank you for sharing their sorrow Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.

You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky

And you won’t be the moon above us on a moonlit night

And you won’t be the stars in heaven

Although they burn so bright

But even on the deepest ocean

You will be the light

You may not always shine

As you go barefoot over stone

You might be so long together

Or you might walk alone

And you won’t find that love comes easy

But that love is always right

So even when the dark clouds gather

You will be the light

And if you lose the part inside

When loves turns round on you

Leaving the past behind

Is knowing you’ll do like you always do

Holding you blind, keeping you true

You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky

And you won’t be the moon above us on a moonlit night

And you won’t be the stars in heaven

Although they burn so bright But even on the deepest ocean

You will be the light.

Anniversary Mass is on Sunday 25th June at 11.00am in the Church of the Resurrection, Killarney.
