Sibling DNA Testing Kit Sibling DNA Testing Kit – Getting The Peace Of Mind With Siblingship Testing

The most reliable way of knowing if two people are related as siblings is through sibling DNA testing. It is conclusive. You can purchase the sibling DNA testing kit from many online and offline DNA testing centers. You then collect samples from the two who are to undergo the testing and the parents involved, and send the samples to an accredited DNA testing company to carry out the analysis for you. A bit more on the details later… The result of DNA sibling testing is only a statistical prove. It give a percentage probability of the people tested to have a common parent(s) or not. From many websites around and paternity testing centers, when you purchase the DNA sibling testing kit, that includes two people. There is the option of adding more at an additional cost if you so want. With siblingship DNA testing, the best way of conducting the test is to test the parents. This is the best way. However, there are situations when both parents are not available – they may be deceased. Or the parents may not be willing to provide the DNA samples needed. In the case, what is recommended is to test the children. If the parents are available and give samples, it vastly increases the sibling DNA testing accuracy. In the case when parents samples are not available, the DNA test results will only tell you that the children do share a common mother and/or father.

Sibling DNA Testing Kit – The Types Of Sibling DNA Testing Available Paternity DNA testing always provide conclusive results. Siblingship DNA testing is not like that. When the testing lab gets the sample from the testers, a genetic profile is establish for each participant. From the profile, a DNA index is established. If the DNA index for each sample is

less than 1.00, then there is less probability that the two are related. If it is more than 1.00, then the probability is high. The bigger the index, the higher the possibility of a shared common parent. There are two sibling DNA testing methods that are used and these are briefly discussed below. (a) Full Sibling DNA Testing The full sibling DNA testing is carried out to find out if two sibling share the same parents (mother and father). The DNA index of the children is compared to that of the parents. If they are close, it proves a high percentage that they have the same parents. (b) Half Sibling DNA Testing The half sibling DNA testing is carried out to find the parent that is common to the children. That is whether they share a common mother or father. A half sibling DNA is calculated. This is compared to the the full sibling DNA index. The testing lab is therefore able to say whether the two kids have a common mum or dad.

Sibling DNA Testing Kit – The Testing Methods Used

It is quite important to note that sibling DNA testing is a little bit more complicated than other types of DNA testing. The testing of full brother/sister, brother/brother or sister/sister, and half sister/sister, brother/sister or brother/brother differ significantly from each other. The STR (X/Y) Testing STR stands for Short Tandem Repeats. The Y-STR testing is done to find out if two or more male descendants from one family come from the same male lineage. There is something significant about the Y-chromosome, in that there is very little mutation on this chromosome. Over the ages, the same chromosome can be passed from one male to next from generation to generation, father to son. During the Y-STR testing, the main focus is on the Y-chromosome. A DNA profile or index is established for each male undergoing the test. It does not distinguish one male from another coming from the same paternity line.

So the sake of example, let’s say that two men know that their mothers are different. They may by a sibling DNA testing kit and request a Y-STR testing to be conducted to find out if they have the same or different fathers. If the Y-STR DNA profile are the same, then it means that they have the same biological father. If on the other hand, the DNA profile is different, then it mean that they have different fathers.

How To Get Your DNA Sibling Testing Kit The sibling DNA testing cost very slightly from one website or testing center to another. It is about $30 for the testing kit alone. Some labs do charge a separate fee for the analysis. Others would give you a free sibling DNA testing kit and charge for the analysis of the sample. So it is important to find out all the cost involved when you decide to buy the sibling DNA testing kit from any online or offline merchant.
