SEPTEMBER 2012
Excellence in ART since 1963.
DEAR FRIENDS, After a record breaking, extraordinarily hot summer across the country, September brings in much needed relief in the way of cooler temperatures and crisp fall days. Our annual Fall Gold show celebrates this wonderful time of the season, with a major exhibition and sale of new works, with an emphasis on sporting art, wildlife and all things related to the beauty and wonder of our Natural world. Our show is on Saturday, September 15 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and collectors can look forward to viewing a wide selection of new works from such noted artists as Kyle Sims, Mian Situ, Z.S. Liang, Robert Moore, Bonnie Marris, Veryl Goodnight, Dan Smith, Adam Smith, Lindsay Scott, George Northup, Brent Cotton, Kent Ullberg, Dustin Van Wechel, Sherry Sander, and Gerald Balciar among others. During this busy weekend, we are very proud to host a major one-man show of new works by Colorado painter Ralph Oberg. The tremendous and inspired body of work for this event is the result of Ralph’s amazing travels in Nepal, Switzerland, Alaska, Canada and the Western U.S. There are over 20 major new paintings and smaller field studies through which Ralph has endeavored to capture the mountain communities, the wildlife and architectural elements that he has encountered from these lofty vantage points. Ralph Oberg, Hall Of The Mountain King, 68x 48, Oil, $38,000
I also want to take this opportunity to remind you that our 6th annual Jackson Hole Art Auction also takes place on Saturday, September 15 at the Center for the Arts. As in past years, there is a strong focus on important works by the Taos Society of Artists, The Santa Fe Art Colony as well as historically recognized artists of the American West. Contemporary western masters will also be prominently continued on page 2

Ar tist Reception: September 15th from 4-7 pm Two years ago, Ralph Oberg began working on the biggest, most important event thus far in his painting career: a one man show inspired by his travels in Nepal, Switzerland, Alaska, Canada and the Western U.S. From the beginning, Ralph made it very clear what he wanted this show to represent: a body of work that not only captured the breathtaking mountain landscapes he had visited, but also the people of these mountains, the culture, the wildlife, and the interesting architectural features found throughout these lofty heights. While born at sea level in Biloxi, Mississippi, Ralph was raised within sight of the front range of the Rockies, a fortunate accident that has defined his selfimage, lifestyle and 40-year career as an artist of the mountain landscape and its wildlife.

From his young boyhood on, the Spirituality of Nature has never been lost on Ralph and it has been a constant source of much needed balance, self-respect and perspective in his life. Since the dawn of man, philosophers, prophets and seekers have gone to the mountains for inspiration and answers. Ralph says he likes to think that he has taken a few small steps up that hill. One has only to view the magnificent paintings on the following pages to know that he has gone way beyond just taking a few steps! There’s a reason why art collectors are drawn to landscape and nature paintings. Ralph Oberg reminds us of the wilderness that is out there and the mountains where we want to be.

MIAN SITU
Spring Meeting, 26 x 40, Oil. $28,000 (Sold by Draw September 15th at 6 pm in Jackson)
We would like to send out an early notice to our many Mian Situ collectors that in March 2013, our Scottsdale gallery will be hosting a major one-man show of new works by this multiple award winning artist. A recent return visit to his homeland in China has inspired Mian to create a beautiful and thought provoking body of work based on the rural, countryside life of his youth which is still deeply rooted within him. Collectors can look forward to a remarkable collection of new paintings through which Mian has once again captured the dignity and quiet beauty of the traditional way of life and dress of the small villages and farm communities he knows so well. Please continue to check our website for updates on the show.
