EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963

This July we are excited to host several artist showcases that highlight the depth and diversity of the talent that we are so proud to represent here at Trailside Galleries. The newest paintings by Michael Malm incorporate the qualities most essential to this Utah painter’s widely collected work: the simplicity of a still life and the timelessness of figures in a natural setting enveloped in an incandescent light. Whether painting a pure landscape or still life, Robert Moore’s distinctive combination of brush and palette knife infused with high key colors bring forth a passion and energy to every canvas. In contrast to the more interpretive style of realism, New Mexico artist Dinah Worman takes on a contemporary view by focusing on the juxtaposition of objects in the landscape. Buildings, people, cattle and diagonal lines separating the space, are all tools within the composition that she refers to as a stacked landscape.

Dinah Worman, October Grazers, oil on canvas, 48 x 48 inches, $8,000

Lanny Grant, Bridger Wilderness, oil on board, 26 x 44 inches, $17,500

Landscape painter Lanny Grant brings us closer to the magnificent Wind River range of Wyoming, with a grouping of works inspired by pack trips that retraced the routes taken by Carl Rungius (1869-1959) into this remote Michael Malm, Aromatic, oil on panel, Robert Moore, The Opening, wilderness. For 40 x 24 inches, $8,700 oil on board, 30 x 15 inches, $3,200 Canadian Ross Buckland, a childhood infatuation with flying crossed over into to a successful career in fine art, where he has been able to explore the unique relationship of aviation, figures and the landscape, all rendered with a vintage style approach. I hope you enjoy the many offerings of our July showcases and a reminder that our newsletter highlights just a sampling of the available works. Please visit our website where you can view each show in its entirety. Best wishes to all our artists, friends and patrons for a Happy 4th of July!

GREG MCHURON (1945-2012) | PLEIN AIR MASTER Greg McHuron (1945-2012) was legendary among the art community in Jackson, Wyoming, where he lived, and in Grand Teton National Park, where he found many of his subjects. In this first book on McHuron, readers will learn about his passions, including his pursuit of excellence and authenticity. In 180 pages and more than 170 paintings and drawings, readers will be inspired by McHuron’s belief that true artists must live their art and paint from the heart. McHuron’s lifestyle epitomized that philosophy, his paintings expressed it, and he shared it with others—whether mentoring artists in the field, in workshops, or in unvarnished critiques. Greg McHuron, Golden Gannett, oil, 40 x 60 inches, $25,000 McHuron’s outspoken story is told by Susan Hallsten McGarry, former editor in chief of Southwest Art magazine. James C. McNutt, president and CEO from 2006 to 2015 of the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming, writes a foreword. The hardbound, 10 ¼ by 11 ¼ inch book is available for $75 in mid-August 2016. It can be ordered from the Grand Teton Association, 307.739.3403, or at http://shop.grandtetonpark.org/Art_s/3.htm
