Wyoming Conference Call, 32 x 50 inches, Oil

“I believe it was Theodore Roosevelt who called the country between Cody and Yellowstone the most beautiful stretch of scenery in America. Cowpunchers working in this magnificent setting are often just as picturesque as they make plans in the dramatic light glinting off horses, chaps and spurs. Far from board rooms and electronic messaging, this West is still face to face and still looks you in the eye.....’’ 4

BILL ANTON is arguably one of the most dynamic and collected artists in the field of western art today, nationally recognized for his impressionistic paintings that chronicle the life and times of the contemporary working cowboy. Born in Chicago, Illinois he graduated form Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in English. His true love, however, was depicting the beautiful scenery and the cowboy imagery of the West. Early on, he studied with Michael Lynch and Ned Jacob who encouraged him to paint from life. Other major artistic influences include Anders Zorn, Joaquin Sorolla, Edgar The Cactus Doctor 12 x 16 inches, Oil

Payne and Frank Tenney Johnson. Inspired by the majestic landscapes, wilderness areas and working ranches close to his Arizona studio, Bill paints with a directness of purpose tempered by rich colors and soft edged brushwork.

LOGAN MAXWELL HAGEGE has clearly caught the attention of a broad spectrum of collectors, from the more contemporary minded art buyer to the traditional western art collector. While his paintings echo the works of the Taos Society of Artists, Maynard Dixon, Georgia O’Keefe and other modernists, there is no question that he is forging his own path and creating thought provoking works that are very much his own unique style. His paintings of the American Southwest come to life in a series of angular images that capture the spare beauty of an arid landscape and of an ancient and enduring Native American culture shaped by the extremes of its environment.

Go With The Wind, 40 x 60 inches, Oil

“There are a handful of elements that I connect with when I am in the desert; the smell of the sage, the sound of the dirt under my boots as I walk, and the warm sun. Connecting with the landscape is important and I often get lost in thought. For some reason, the wind can change the mood and my thoughts in an instant and tends to be one of the main elements that reminds me of the strength of mother nature. 7

Z.S. LIANG “Perhaps the most sacred and powerful weapon among the Blackfeet tribes is the Bear Spear. It carries the spirit and power of a bear. The staff is wrapped with bear fur and a piece of tanned head skin. A bunch of eagle feathers is attached to the end of the long blade.

Z. S. LIANG’S rich and compelling paintings of Native American culture and tradition clearly resonate with collectors who find depth and quality in his storytelling narratives. His penchant for detail combined with the historical and narrative elements of his paintings have firmly established him among the ranks of the finest western representational painters in the country today. With each painting, whether a complex, historical subject matter with Voice of the Canyon, 36 x 51 inches, Oil

multiple figures or a simple, elegant portrait, his meticulous research and dedication is clearly evident, giving his work passion and authenticity.

JIM C. NORTON, long-standing and award wining member of the Cowboy Artists of America, is renowned for his renditions of western art and depictions of historical and modern life in the

West. Born the first of six children in the small coal-mining town of Price, Utah his father was a miner, and the family traveled around various western states including Sunnyside, Utah, Carlsbad, New Mexico, Moab, Utah, and Rock Springs, Wyoming. This early experience would have a lasting affect on his love of the West. He began his formal art education at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs , Wyoming and then later attended Brigham Young University where he had the opportunity to study with William Whitaker and Conrad Schwiering. A perpetual student of nature and art, his painterly use of color brings life to the stunning vistas portrayed within his paintings. Jim particularly loves to express his personal experiences living and traveling through the West working with cowboys and Native Americans. Covering Their Tracks, 24 x 36 inches, Oil 10

Red Cloud was a principal chief of the Oglala Teton Lakota (Sioux), who successfully resisted (1865–67) the U.S. government’s development of the Bozeman Trail to newly discovered gold fields in Montana Territory. In this scene, a young Red Cloud and his friend White Horse stop at a small creek on their way to steal horses from the Crow country. Stealing horses was a way of bringing wealth to himself and the Sioux tribe.

Three Close Friends, 32 x 46 inches, Oil

“I wanted to show a cowboy and horse standing on a cliff with a panoramic view in the background. As I worked out a few sketches, I thought of a loyal dog with them and how much these three would be together out of doors. With this as my story line, I couldn’t help thinking of how close they would become. It also brought back memories of a horse I once owned and how on long rides one can’t help feeling closeness to this old friend. I think it is part of the spirit of the cowboy.” 12

TIM SOLLIDAY became enamored with the West and its mythology at an early age. He was inspired to paint by his artist father and at age 14, began studying with early California Impressionist, Theodore N. Lukits (18971992). Under his tutelage, Solliday honed his exceptional skills and solidified his goal of capturing beauty on canvas in the pleinair style. While many masters influenced his work, including John Singer Sargent, Vincent Van Gogh, Ernest Blumenschein and the early California Impressionists, it was Frank Tenney Johnson who influenced him most directly; so much so, that he sought out his old studio in Yosemite Sunshine

the foothills north of Pasadena and painted

there for five years. Today, Solliday’s work is a unique combination of the historic and the contemporary; his western landscapes and figures imbued with vibrant color and bold, dramatic brushstrokes that add a feeling of movement in his works.
