Here, the Art of the Olympian’s logo is placed with a slogan for the organization where the type around it still follows the clear space guidelines which allows the symbol to stand out first, where the secondary heading is read next.

TYPEFACE USAGES There are variety of ways to apply the typefaces in different Art of the Olympians applications to create a legible and beautiful looking document. The two font families, Neutraliser and Guardian Egyptian, were chosen to keep all applications consistent and related, yet interesting and unique. The example to the right are one of the series of the Art of the Olympians Artis Cards, with Steve Allen as the featured artist. To keep a good heigharchy of reads, the title (the artist’s name) is in Neutraliser (san-serif font), for greatest legibility. The subhead (20 Years of Sports through Art and Featured Artist) are in Guardian Egyptian Italic, which gives more information, but is read after the headline. The body text is in Guardian Egyptian (serif font), which reads the best at a smaller size and in a greater quantity of text.

COLOR SPECIFICATIONS SPOT COLORS (PANTONE) When spot-color reproduction, the CMYK conversions are shown that best match the Pantone colors. In the Pantone Matching System, spot colors are identified by numbers and are pre-mixed and use only one ink for each color in the publication.

PROCESS COLORS (CMYK) For process-color reproduction, the CMYK conversions are shown that best match the Pantone colors. CMYK is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, and is also used to describe the printing process itself. CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black).

WEB COLORS (RGB) The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light is added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. 8-Bit color monitors are virtually a thing of the past. Both Netscape and Internet Explorer automatically snap to web-safe when an 8-Bit system is sensed. Given these factors, you need not limit the web palette to web-safe. The main purpose of the RGB color model is for the sensing, representation, and display of images in electronic systems, such as televisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography.
