The Garden Venues

The five botanical gardens are in two areas in the Los Angeles area of Southern California.

• South Coast Botanic Garden

• Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens

• Descanso Gardens

• Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden

• California Botanic Garden.

We spent between six and eight hours in each garden except for the LA County Arboretum where we only had time for a two hour visit.

Our behavior in the gardens is important. We are strict about staying on the walkways. We’re equally interested in not upsetting the hummingbird behavior by getting too close. Carrying a big camera can be intimidating to other garden visitors. Respecting the right of other people to see and photograph the birds is important.
