Special Education Parent Policy Leader Workshop An opportunity to learn and practice skills needed to be effective in the legislative process

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009 1 to 5 p.m. State Capitol, Room 112 75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. St. Paul, MN 55155

This privately funded workshop is for parent leaders who want to become public policy advocates. Participants will: • Learn about the structure of the state legislature and how to have influence within it • Find out how a bill becomes a law • Discover how to prepare an effective personal story for an issue • Participate in a group exercise to create a bill and present supporting testimony. Elected officials will provide feedback.
