From the social media campaign #JusticeForKillua to the multitude of desperate pleas for intervention, countless voices have risen on behalf of the defenseless. It is in this context that Malalag's engaged citizenry recently organized the Animal Services Day, a testament to the deep affection Malalag residents hold for their furry companions.
On May 23, 2024, one of the events of Sagawak festival is the Animal Services day where fur parents get a chance to consult their dogs and cats. For awareness and protection, they are given anti-rabies vaccination and medicines that will improve their health.
Rabies vaccination is not only mandated by law in many places, but also an essential component of being a good pet owner. Not only does it help keep animals healthy in general, but it also shows how much you care about your pet's health.
Despite the indisputable relationship between people and animals, innumerable beings suffer horrendous cruelty. However, optimism remains. The recent Animal Services Day in Malalag is a moving demonstration of the community's affection for animals and a shining example of their resistance to animal abuse.
This incident highlights the power of empathy to end animal suffering and pave the way for a better future.
Animal Services Day was a successful activity by the kind people of
Malalag as a way to honor the animals in their midst. The profound love that the people of Malalag have for their beloved pets was beautifully demonstrated during this touching activity.
This activity highlights the power of empathy to end animal suffering and pave the way for a better future. Make sure that an avoidable tragedy doesn't overshadow that future. A simple measure that can save lives is vaccinating your pet against rabies. If people work together, they can create an environment where people can love animals without fear.

MALALAG, Davao del Sur Malalag LGU organized an initiative to counter the spread of rabies virus among our domestic pets through Animal Service Day happened earlier, May 23, at Rizal Park, Old Municipal Hall.
According to RHU, rabies is considered to be a neglected disease, which is 100 percent fatal though 100 percent preventable.
It is not among the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in the country but it is regarded as a significant public health problem because it is one of the most acutely fatal infections and it is responsible for the death of 200 to 300 Filipinos annually.
Aside from that, it is also recommended that pet owners should regularly bathe their pet dogs and provide them with clean food and drinks as well as clean sleeping quarters.
For individuals who have high-risk occupation, the agency recommends for them to have pre-exposure anti-rabies vaccine.
The initiative aims to provide a healthy lifestyle for our dogs and cats assuring that each and every fur friend we have could get the necessary vaccination.
