Maintaining CrystalClear Water:Intex KrystalPoolFilter Pump
We all dream of those idyllic summer days spent by the pool, relaxing with a refreshing drink, or jumping in for a quick dip. But ensuring your pool is always ready to offer crystal clear, clean water requires some maintenance.
One of the crucial elements of this maintenance is understanding and utilizing your pool filter's functions correctly.
Understanding Your Pool Filter
In simple terms, a pool filter keeps your pool water clean by removing small debris. The Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump, a preferred choice for many above-ground pool owners, uses sand to trap this debris. This method is costeffective and low-maintenance, needing sand replacement just once every five years.
Unpacking the Six Functions
The Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump boasts six essential functions. Here's what they mean and how to use them:
#1 Filter
At the core of your pool's sanitation system is the filter function. Water from the pool is drawn into the pump, and from there it is directed to the sand filter where contaminants and debris are trapped in the sand.
Once this filtration process is complete, the cleaned water is pumped back into the pool. It's crucial to operate this function regularly to maintain the cleanliness and clarity of your pool water.
#2 Backwash
The process of filtration eventually leads to the accumulation of debris in the sand. As the sand becomes dirty, the efficiency of the filter declines.
To combat this, the backwash function comes into play. It reverses the flow of water, sending it backward through the sand filter and out a waste line. This process flushes out the trapped debris from the sand, effectively cleaning it and preparing it for more filtration.
#3 Rinse
Backwashing might leave some residual debris or sand in the water lines. To ensure a clean transition back to filter mode, the rinse function is used. This setting runs water through the system in the normal direction (as in the filter mode),
but discharges the water to waste, removing any leftover contaminants and resetting the filter sand bed for optimal filtration.
#4 Re-circulate
There might be times when you want to circulate the water without running it through the filter, such as when you're adding chemicals to the water and need them dispersed quickly.
The re-circulate function allows you to do this. It bypasses the sand filter and returns the water directly to the pool, aiding in the effective distribution of chemicals.
#5 Drain
Over the course of using your pool, there may be occasions when you need to lower the water level or completely drain the pool, like when preparing your pool for winter or when the water level gets too high due to rainfall. The drain function allows you to do this safely and efficiently, directing the water out of a waste line.
#6 Close System
Whenever there's a need to service the pump or clean the pump basket, it's important to stop the flow of water to the pump. The 'Close System' function allows you to do this. It closes off the pump from the pool, preventing water from flowing back and flooding the area.
