Rice Preparation
To Cook in the Rice Cooker:
Long grain white rice - 2 cups (rice measuring cup)
Water to fill to water level 2.
Alternatively, you can measure 2.5 cups (rice measuring cup) of water for the rice cooker
1/2 tbsp salt & pepper
1 tbsp butter
Cooking Steps
Ingredients:
2 salmon fillets (6-8 oz each or 1" thick, 4-6" long)
2 tsp of salt and pepper Optional: 2 tsp of garlic powder
2-3 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice thoroughly in cold water until the water runs clear. This removes any excess starch and helps prevent the rice from sticking together when cooked.
2. Add the rice and water to the Zojirushi rice cooker NP-HCC10XH. Cook the perfect rice using the “White Rice” setting. Once done, fluff the rice with a rice spatula and stir in the butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Pat dry the salmon. Rub a little olive oil onto the fillet.
4. Season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides. Do the same with the garlic powder if you decide to try this seasoning (You would not be disappointed).
5. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it starts to shimmer. Add the salmon fillets, skin side down, and cook for 4-5 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and browned.
6. Carefully flip the fillets over and add butter to the skillet. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the flesh is opaque and cooked through. Make sure to scoop the butter oil and pour it on the salmon during this time for a buttery taste.
7. Serve the seared salmon with a plate of white rice. Prepare a few wedges of lemon if you would like to squeeze some fresh citric juice onto the salmon. Enjoy your delicious and nutritious meal!
