LOWER LEVEL

LUXURY HOTEL

PROJECT TYPE: HOSPITALITY HOTEL

LOCATION:

DESIGN CONCEPT:

My concept for this hotel design draws inspiration from Reso, Montreal’s ‘Underground City,’ a fully enclosed subterranean network that houses various shops and residential spaces. The design will incorporate elements from this underground city, along with a more literal interpretation of being beneath the Earth’s surface. The spaces will feature materials that echo the colors and textures found in natural caves and man-made tunnels. A careful balance of light and shadow will be central to the design, mimicking the interplay of light and darkness seen in underground passages and within Reso itself. Certain areas of the hotel will be designed to evoke the feeling of being below ground, creating an immersive subterranean experience.

The overall design will embrace a sleek, modern aesthetic, blending reflective, contemporary materials with textures inspired by the natural world. Clean lines and minimalist features will be highlighted by the warmth and richness of organic materials, creating a contrast between the polished and the raw. Natural forms, such as stone, will evoke a sense of grounding, while reflective finishes will add sophistication. This combination will create a balanced atmosphere, one that feels both contemporary and deeply connected to nature.

LOWER LEVEL PARTI:

The parti for Lower Level is inspired by tunnel architecture and design, aiming to evoke the feeling of being underground or within expansive subterranean spaces. This concept draws upon the unique motifs found in tunnels—such as curved walls, vaulted ceilings, and repeating structural elements—that create a sense of enclosure and movement. By incorporating intricately woven construction pieces, the design mimics these natural forms while adding layers of texture and depth. The interplay of light and shadow in these spaces further enhances the sense of being within an underground passage, creating an immersive environment that feels both vast and intimate.

THE HEALING CENTER

CANCER TREATMENT CENTER

PROJECT TYPE:

HEALTHCARE

PROJECT INFORMATION:

The Healing Center is a healthcare facility designed

to provide cancer patients with both conventional and alternative treatment options. Drawing inspiration from Japanese design, the center incorporates a natureinspired color palette to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Japanese screens, along with patterns and textures reminiscent of traditional Japanese art, reinforce the design concept and foster a sense of tranquility. The materials used throughout the space were thoughtfully selected to meet the rigorous cleaning standards required in healthcare facilities, ensuring durability while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the design.

DESIGN CONCEPT:

This treatment facility prioritizes patient comfort by creating an environment where individuals can feel as relaxed and at ease as possible. Since infusion treatments can take several hours, it was crucial to design a space where patients could feel comfortable for extended periods. Thoughtful planning included ample space for family members to join the primary patients, ensuring a supportive and comforting environment throughout the treatment process.
