Who is Rivernet? In 2008, two independent and successful ICT Consulting Companies merged to form Rivernet Communications Pty Ltd. These two companies’ founders; Scott Kirk and Gideon Street are the management and driving force behind Rivernet today. Working example: We have completed a project where all computers, notebooks and tablets will be wireless (no Ethernet to the desk) which saves considerable cost and time with Move Add Changes and lowers the cost in greenfield sites.

GOLD COAST UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL Rivernet Communications was engaged to deliver the data and unified communications network streams for the Gold Coast University Hospital, after 9 months of effort the dedicated team successfully delivered the voice and data networks, meeting all time frames and budgetary requirements. GCUH was a new $1.76 billion, 750-bed super Hospital and a vital component in Queensland Health’s vision to deliver state-of-the-art health service facilities designed to cope with the large population growth seen in South East Queensland. Located in Southport, GCUH is one of Queensland’s largest clinical teaching and research facilities. It provides specialised health services that meet the needs of patients as well as the learning requirements of their future clinicians. The campus is made up of seven main buildings with a total floor space of approximately 170,000 square metres. The aim of the new hospital was to create a facility that provides the technology to support high level service delivery by staff, meet the healing needs of patients and meet the learning requirements of students and staff. This will enable the hospital to maximise its capacity to teach the health professionals of the future. Many technical challenges were encountered during the project and all were overcome, delivering a truly converged network to assist Queensland Health in providing state of the art front line care. The GCUH network was the first Queensland Health site to adopt a full MPLS architecture allowing for true segmentation of Building Management Services, biomedical services, trusted and un-trusted third parties. Each of these internal services can be considered as separate business units so they are a reflection of a large scale multi-tenant solution utilising Cisco and Mobicall technologies. During the project over 15,000 network ports, 4,000 handsets, and 3,500 Wireless Access Points were deployed.
Rivernet has been involved with hundreds of projects over the past 10 years. LADY CILENTO CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL Rivernet has been engaged to repeat the successful delivery of a Cisco voice and data network for the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital located in Woolloongabba. The project was a 1.5 billion project to improve children’s health services in Queensland. The new hospital is an academic and research facility and they are reliant on the IT systems to deliver the data and voice components. Rivernet was responsible for delivering the voice and data networks consisting of 25,000 network access points, 2500 wired and 250 wireless handsets
AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY Rivernet was engaged to do an audit on their network due to a significant quantity of outages which caused significant issues. We also completed a cabling test and audit of existing cabling structure to determine the extent of the issues. As a result, a network redesign was put together, taking into consideration the projected growth of the Automotive Group. The redesign was approved and implemented. The results after almost 3 years – one minor service call otherwise 100% uptime.
INSURANCE COMPANY This company started utilising cloud based services to reduce their capital costs for new projects. Proven to be successful in the short term, Rivernet were tasked to review the effects on the network of increased cloud services usage. We are now finalising the second phase of this work which is implementing a design that will help increase the capability of the network to cater for the growth in Cloud Based Services.
