Seattle Maritime and Aviation Museum: Fall 2017 Seattle, WA, USA Collaboration
This project was a 3 people group project trying to design a maritime and aviation museum in Gasworks Park Seattle. Gasworks park is one of the popular destination for people and has an active social life within it. The design goal in this project was to design a sustainable project socially, environmentally and economically. The goal was achieved through improving connection of water, urban and park and provide spaces for social interaction and engaging public. Design allows society to use public spaces within museum. We designed a clear experiential circulation for individuals through galleries and museum space. Our approach was a modular approach to find the best solution for complex problems in design. The final result is a sustainable building, by using strategies to obtain require natural light,, use natural resources like CLT . In terms of social sustainability, the design encourage social interaction between users, addressing very class of users and it has created an extra destination withing gasworks park while it respects to the current use of the park.

The modular design of the project helped the structure design. With a simple method of columns and girders we managed the structure of the bridge area on level 3 and by using cables and rods we managed the second level on exhibition. In the last two levels of exhibition we have a consistent truss patten along the path and this truss system helps to solve the wide span areas in the structure. A

Design, Build Project: Dunlap Arboretum Pavilion Summer 2016, Urbandale, IA, USA Collaboration of all students
This project was result of three month effort of 10 architecture student. Students designed and build the project. The Bishop Family Shelter is the first structure built in the recently inaugurated Dunlap Park Arboretum in Urbandale, Iowa. We worked closely with the community to ensure that the 16’ x 40’ covered park shelter could accommodate both community recreational and educational activities featured within the arboretum. The project’s location on the site, the simple form of the cedar and galvanized steel structure, and the refined level of detail in the benches, shelves, and tables reflects a purposeful approach to design that sees elegance in the interplay of these basic and profound elements. This project helped me as a student to learn more about how a structure construct and get to know about the material s like wood and how it is using on the site.

Light changes the space. Oreon Scott Chapel Intervention Summer 2016 Drake university, Des Moines, IA, U.S.A Kimya Salari
Does light have capacity to change a space? Can we use natural light to lighten a specific spot during the day? In this project after scanning the Scott chapel and study it carefully,The building initially designed by Eero Sarinen. The plan is perfect. Every thing is his design is centeral . In this project,we were supposed to change something in space that change the meaning of the chapel. My project focus on light. The plan of this building is central and everything focuses on the center. I decided to change the light in a way that always lighten the northern part of the floor plan, and behind that wall, I designed a space for

Hogback Bridge Structural Model Fall 2015 Winterset, IA, USA Group: Kimya Salari, shawn barron Noel Gonzales
Hogback Bridge is a historical bridge in Iowa. It is famous because of being part of a movie scene. People visit it regularly. This bridge has a fascinating wooden structure that grabs visitors attention. The bridge is covered, however it didn’t hide the beauty of structure, In this project we studies the structure of the bridge and learned how it works. We visited it few times and measured it ,made drawings for it. We presented our studies by making a model from the structure. This model was presented in an exhibition in Des Moines

Sensational Space Shifters Fall 2011 Kimya Salari
Light and form are essential tool for designers. It is important to learn how to use them and explore their capacity. This project target both subject and it is one of my early experiences. Light is one of the critical components in a space. It is powerful and impact the space. You can make an space. How we can be creative by using a simple module and change space using that? This question is the subject of this project. At the first part I defined an abstract model of a pyramid, which is one of the stablest form. In the second part I tried to create a curve model out of this abstract modules. After making a half sphere from combining these modules, I turned on light inside it. The shadow was amazing and it was hard to understand what this module made from.

Retrofitiing project: Manilla Carvanserai Market, Whiskey and shrimp, exhibition and resort Cote submission project Fall 2016 Manilla, IA, USA Collaboration
This project was about Retrofitting an abandoned building into an energy efficient building in a rural area in Midwest. This project was a result of collaboration of a group. In this project, we were facing social, economic and environmental issues and worked with the Manilla Economic Development Corporation as the owner of the building along the way.The existing, vacant building is modified into a complex that can serve the community need in a sustainable, energy efficient way. The main building of Manilla school has built in 1915 and was developed through elementary building in the west and new gym in 1973. After abundant of this building, people tend to revive the building with new program. The program is developed based on Iowa’s culture of food production. Caravanserai is a middle-eastern space, which is a place between big cities where travelers can bring products from other cities to sell, can rest and can communicate with other people.
