SOMA 3. Year, KADK

Resume

The work of the semester is based on the town of Stege with concentration at the now abandoned sugar factory and the surrounding nature and coastal area. The project is a proposal for a satellite faculty for a natural science education at the University of Copenhagen. The area of t he sugar factory has been chosen due to the actual development potential of the site and to be able to participate in the discussion on the conversion of disused industrial buildings. The work field of the Semester is concentrated around the meeting between new and old, where work must be done on building; in, to and near the existing factory. The facatory is located on the outskirts of the city, where culture meets a man-made nature, which has previously been an area with large wastewater pools. Today, nature has been allowed to overgrow the area again as the factory is now closed.

Situation plan

Apartment unit The unit residence has its expression from nature. More specifically, the expression comes from mushrooms and trees. The construction is seen as a tree that stands on its trunk and carries the wooden crown with its tapered branches, which filter vision and light.

The Black Japanese City 2. Year, KADK

Resume The semester assignment deals with the development of a floor residential building in the city. The project will take place at The Yellow City and on the area at Otto Busses Vej. The Yellow City was built in 1909 in connection with DSB’s central workshop, which was then one of the city’s largest workplaces. Historically, the central workshop and The Yellow City have lived a hidden life in the city - protected (or hidden) by the ailway and Vasbygade, like a ‘town’. The black Japanese city is a residential complex for city students. There has been a focus on creating a sense of ownership for the students, which has resulted in several yards and different combinations of volumes. A new typology has been created which detaches from the existing axis.

First floor The apartment complex has been inspired by the Japanese who use sliding doors, which is seen throughout the Japanese city. Each home has access to a common room, which also serves as an entrance to the various homes. Large windows in the apartments connect the residents, so the neighbors can look over to each other and keep up with everyday life and create a larger community across.

Second floor The stairs to the individual apartments lead directly to the room, where a terrace opens up to the room. the small rooms can only accommodate the bed and closet, while the larger rooms have the option of a desk. The terraces are shared between several residents or for a single apartment.

A Bathing Facility in The Landscape 2. Year, KADK

Resume Fieldwork - creation of a specific place in Tallinn, Estonia. The semester assignment’s context is the waterfront in Tallinn, which is measured and registered. The field work is to a large extent a self-organized study that, among other things. involves research, meetings with locals and studies of architecture and landscapes. The project task - is a “bathing facility in the landscape”. Themes include culture and nature, the spirit of the place, topography, daylight, botany, the rhythms and sensuality of the place. The program consists of studies of serving and serviced spaces, timeliness and rhythm, community and individuality, forms of use, life forms and residence, local construction practices and construction methods. The focus is on wooden constructions and sauna customs.

A Reading Room in the Meat Town 1. Year, KADK

The task takes place in the meat town. Right now, he Meat Town focuses on food supplies, ranging from salad factories and meat cutting to supermarkets and restaurants, as well as to creative companies. However, there are no public functions such as libraries, swimming pools, etc. Above the building in the Meat Town, an extension is designed that holds room for a cultural function: A small library without books. The place is used as a reading room, which is found in larger libraries; a quiet place where you can read or write in peace. It is in this way very different from, for example, a cafĂŠ. Although the place has a small cafĂŠ, cafe visitors must not bother other users.
