December, what a crazy month it's been so far - yes I know it's only week 2 but still! The Kindred Sole office is in recovery from an amazing November with the launch of the new website and brand new Autumn Winter collection. So the British weather did what it does best this month and caught us all of guard. Well kind of, or maybe we just weren't prepared. The only good thing to come from all these icy roads and icy blasts are winter boots! Let me introduce you to Rubber Duck Snowjoggers...the winter boots that sold out in a week!! I discovered that women really did want practical footwear which was fashionable too. I think my favourite pair would have to be either the Reindeer Knit or Neoprene black Snowjoggers! If you have a fave let me know! This month saw me and the team attend the Clothes Show Live 2010 with the ever delightful Mr How To Look Good Naked himself, Gok Wan. The Catwalk show in the Fashion Theatre was incredible thanks to fabulous styling by Alexis Knox. There was eight fashion themes in total which were all amazing. With a bit of 'Western Action' and 'High School Rocks' I discovered I have eclectic fashion taste...depending on my mood! Our new feature 'Ask Tamar' has officially launched. Be sure to send in your fashion questions! The fabulous Tamar has been a stylist since 2003 working in magazines, TV and catwalk shoes. So if you are having an identity crisis or fashion dilemma be sure to 'Ask Tamar' I hope you enjoy the third issue of Kindred Sole Edition! As ever if you would like to feature in the magazine or have any suggestions, Get In Touch!! Till Next Month x

I‟m looking for a „quick fix‟ to add instant femininity to my wardrobe – What are some easy ways to dress more lady-like? Nina, Bath Nina, it is very easy to get stuck in a comfort rut, and at times like this I have one word for you: heels. Femininity isn‟t all about florals and pinks, just slip on a pair of heels and I guarantee that your posture, walk and attitude will instantly fem up. Visit KindredSole.co.uk for a fab selection of shoes. I recommend the Lady Tamara Black Platform Shoe (even the name is girly!). The heel is a practical size, and you can wear these with jeans or a skirt for an instant hit of elegance.
I adore the programme „Mad Men‟ and the glamorous clothes that era wore. Where would be the best shops to buy this style of dress from? I‟m a size 12-14 and on a budget! Emily, London Inspiration from the hit US drama Mad Men could be seen all over the catwalk at fashion week and one of the great things about this trend is its celebration of curves. At a fabulous size 12-14 you have the perfect size to suit, and you‟ll be able to find a great selection of 50‟s inspired frocks at Dorothy Perkins. Or give this fun dress by South a try, it‟s only £35 from Very.co.uk, and will be hugely versatile. During the day team with a cardigan and pumps, glam it up at night with a waist cinching belt, some heels and an all important slick of red lippie!
I want to invest in a winter hat/ear muffs something woolly but I have no idea where to start, is there a particular trend that is best to follow for winter accessories? Amy, Bristol Like most things, the trends for winter accessories change from year to year so I would recommend opting for something classic and timeless. A beret always looks chic, but for a more casual look you can wear a good old beanie! Remember though, a beanie needn‟t be boring, from cable knit to basket weave there are plenty of variations to choose from. A good place to start would be your local Accessorize. I‟ve got my works Christmas Do coming up and am stuck for an outfit. I want to look WOW maybe something sparkly and definitely attention grabbing! What‟s bang on trend for the festive party season? Sarah, Derby This Christmas is all about gold, and I cannot think of anything more festive and head turning than this gorgeous jacquard dress by Coast, £145. Wear with opaque black tights and chunky heels…you‟ll be taking home the company‟s „Best Dressed 2010‟ award!
Nails Inc Christmas Collection cannot be missed! This year nails inc. serves up some truly delectable delights with all the trimmings and more to ensure that the only thing suffering the burn is your credit card! These Crystal Cap polishes are £15. They first launched in 2009 and were an instant sell-out and we can easily see why. Doing says Christmas like a bit, or alot of sparkles. In Royal Arcade (copper glitter), Crown Court (rich purple), King Street (chocolate brown) and George Street (pink nude) colour tones, you can't go wrong!
The Style PA launched in 2007 as a way for its founder, Jenny, to fuel her passion for fashion. Jenny explains "I loved writing for the blog so much, that I went from publishing one weekly post, to daily posts in no time at all. I am at my happiest when scouting the web for the latest fashion finds and bargain buys." The Style PA's ethos is that you don't need to spend a fortune to look fabulous. Even the most stylish celebrities occasionally pick up a high street bargain and each individual should always aim to adapt the season's trends to suit them. Where did your passion for clothes come from? My passion for magazines has made me a clothes addict. From a young age I loved flicking through fashion mags and daydreaming of the things I would love to buy and I'm still the same now. What is the best thing about being a fashion blogger? I've made some great friends through blogging and the fact I get to meet so many interesting people and find out the latest fashion news first is definitely as plus.
What Autumn/Winter trends will be getting you through the season? My party style is going to be about opulence, brocade and metallics this year, I'm also loving pleats and fifties style dresses too. Favourite Twitter/Blogger to follow? I love the blog 'Kingdom of Style', and I also read my little sister's blog religiously, 'All About Abbie'. I follow over 1000 people on Twitter too. I can't get enough. How would you describe your style? It's a bit of a mixture, I love ladylike styles and dresses but also like to throw in some edgier, trend-led pieces too. Who is your style icon? I love looking at other bloggers for style inspiration as much as celebrities now. I do still love Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and Zooey Deschanel though. What is your fave shoe trend this season? Tan shearling boots are my staple of the season, they are practical but super stylish.

CLOTHES SHOW LIVE 2010
Clothes Show Live is the UK’s leading fashion and beauty event and brings together hundreds of high street and boutique fashion brands; the widest range of beauty brands available; non stop catwalk shows featuring 45 minutes of show-stopping fashion on the worlds largest catwalk. And Kindred Sole Edition was there to report on the fashion happenings of this mega fashion and beauty event. So sit back, relax and get ready to be wowed! The Kindred Sole Edition team took their seats for the opening debut show at Clothes Show Live 2010 where Mr How To Look Good Naked himself Gok Wan presented the debut show. Dressed in a black fitted tuxedo jacket, black trousers, white hi-tops and a grey snood. He introduced the “Gorgeous and Glamorous The Only Way Is Essex duo Mark and Lauren” to the audience. If that wasn‟t enough glamour for the audience Gok Wan went on to introduce two male models whom he dubbed the „Boy Gok-Ettes” ripped and oiled these two male models really helped to whip the crowds into a frenzy! The hall had been transformed into the ultimate in 60s/70s cinema glory. Complete with red velveteen curtains, red side lights and the old cinema graphics – the mood was set for a night at the cinemas you wouldn‟t forget in a long time. With the soundtrack from the movie magic Grease you were transported into a retro dream “Now Showing At The Movies” Lights-Camera-Action…….. X Factor „hottie‟ Austin Drage performed the debut performance – Ne-Yo – Closer. He wore skinny jeans, graphic Tee with open checked shirt and plimsolls. Hot new boy band Inju5tice performed a single from their ambitious debut album “World‟s Most Wanted” combining singing and dancing they rocked the stage with break dancing. Dressed in all black clothing with grey accents, braces hanging low, leather cut out gloves army boots and trainers they are a band to watch!
8 exciting, innovative, eye opening fashion themes awaited the Clothes Show Live Fashion Theatre. Styled by the fabulous Alexis Knox, we knew the 6,500 seated Fashion Theatre was in for a treat...! Opening the show was the exciting theme „Mission Impossible‟ taking one of the most famous scenes from the film one man dressed all in black descended on the hall to capture the priceless diamond. With a soundtrack including “Diamonds Are Forever” by Shirley Bassey this debut fashion theme demanded attention! The dancing was incredible, regimented fierce and „Diversity‟ inspired. Cue the catwalk and a James Bond type struts down the catwalk, accompanied by two „Bond Girls‟ with the obligatory bikinis. To sum up the „Mission Impossible‟ theme it was regimented in style, printed patterns for guys, bullet casings were a must-have accessory for both the guys and girls and gave all the outfits a fiercer than fierce edge.
“High School Rocks” was the second theme down the infamous catwalk – a homage to the much loved film „High School Musical‟ with all sorts of references to the gorgeous Zac Effron. Geek chic for the guys was obligatory, all round rimmed glasses and nerd type styling. For the girls it was “Oh Baby” by Britney Spears inclusive of pom-poms, glitter and all things that sparkle. Big bows in the female models hair, blazers in jersey stretch with the main colours of the day being white, navy and red; making reference to the USA. To close this fashion theme the models wore union jack flags as clothes. Overall very preppy in the cutest way, knee high socks and high heel peep toes.
“Western Action” was genius! With Saloon music, cowboy boots, checked shirts for him and tied up for her it was everything you would imagine a Western Saloon to be! Rodeo Girl styling took to new heights! Lots of denim, fringing, faux fur, paisley prints and waistcoats were evident. Perhaps our favourite influence for this theme was the clever references to Red Indian styles – feathers and feather head dresses have firmly made their revival! Will you be taking to the high street in one? We may not be able to resist! With a background tune of “Wild Wild West” by Will Smith this theme was all about having fun with your style and paying homage to a trend that refuses to leave the catwalk!
“Fairytale
Romance”
was every Disney fans dream come true! The opening scene being taken right out of Enchanted complete with Turret. The song of choice, “I‟ve been dreaming” which was the perfect back drop for the beautiful ballet performance by talented ballet dancers. This themes fashion was graceful, delicate and girly – Just what you‟d expect from the perfect Fairytale! The men donned Velveteen, dark and mysterious. Frilly and Fitted!
“Science Fiction” was the complete opposite to the Disney Wonderland that was a „Fairytale Romance‟ The Science Fiction catwalk theme was very literal – think NASA rocket launch music! A giant Zorb Ball enters the catwalk, complete with model Anthony Kaye rolling around inside! Silver chrome and black bodysuits were the order of this theme. It was space age extreme. Rihanna „Only girl‟ was the song of choice, accents of red could be seen everywhere – perhaps homage to the signers bright red locks?! A Kylie look-a-likey struts down the catwalk in the infamous white leotard with hood from her hit single „Can‟t Get You Out Of My Head”. Overall this theme‟s style was very fitted with accent OTT angles, metal and lots of red. The 6th theme was “Rocky Gangsters” and it opened with a boxing game theme which added to the excitement and an obligatory KO between the Red and Blue team! The male models were suited and booted, sleek, sophisticated and very smart each with a quirky trilby to complete their look. The girls were equally as glamorous in floor length gowns, it was total opulence glamour. There were lots of one sleeved evening dresses that were gorgeous! Lauren and Mark from “The Only Way Is Essex” made their debut appearance in this theme, Mark was suited and booted with the all important trilby and two tone black and white brogues looking like an on trend stylish gangster! Very Mafia influenced!
“Horror Mystery” was the 7th theme of the show with all sorts of Edward Scissor Hands references. The women opened this theme in black bras, floor length black frilled skirts and black veils. It was very dramatic! For the guys it was an array of ripped jeans, black fashion military boots, leather jackets and silver jewellery thrown in. The song was Ne-Yo “Beautiful Monster” which was perfectly fitting for this “Horror Mystery” theme. Lots of leather, red fur coats, hoods, chunky zips, shearling, studs, velvet and graphic TShirts made this theme dark and daring.
The catwalk
final theme of the extravaganza was “Dirty Dancing” and it opened with a dancing spectacular from the ultimate scene in the film Dirty Dancing – and yes the lift was done! The male dancers wore all black and the girls were in classic dancing dresses. There was lots of sparkle, silver, gold and black even with occasional sparkly hood! The show closed with “That‟s All Folks” and I think the only thing that can be added to that was „Encore Encore Encore!‟ The Fashion Theatre was an amazing event and really did showcase show-stopping fashion as well as the most extraordinary dancing you‟ve seen!

Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty An exhibition at Somerset House, London 10th November 2010 – 9th January 2011 This winter, Somerset House is proud to host “Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty”. A celebration of the renowned illustrator René Gruau (19092004), who created some of the most iconic fashion and beauty images of the 20th century, this exciting exhibition showcases groundbreaking artworks including over forty original illustrations for Christian Dior Parfums, exquisite vintage perfume bottles, sketches, magazines and poster adverts. The show also features a selection of Dior Haute Couture dresses personally selected by John Galliano including a special AUSTIN dress designed by Galliano himself, in homage to Gruau. René Gruau‟s bold lines and fluid style were perfectly in tune with the spirit of Dior, capturing the energy and elegance of the brand. His illustrations also tell of a special understanding Gruau had of Christian Dior himself.
“To be inspired by Dior is to be inspired by René Gruau. His sketches capture the silhouette and spirit of Dior and a new era of fashion and femininity. His illustrations are timeless, ever youthful, ever faithful to the moment he saw; they capture the energy, the sophistication and daring of Dior, and equally are a token of an enduring friendship.” John Galliano Gruau influenced the graphic style of a generation of fashion illustrators and this exhibition features specially commissioned pieces from five of the UK‟s most cuttingedge illustrators; Jasper Goodall, Daisy Fletcher, Erin Petson, Richard Kilroy and Sarah Arnett. Responding to the themes in the exhibition and re-interpreting them within a modern day context, each illustrator has created works and limited edition prints for sale inspired by Gruau‟s work for Dior.
