The blog aims to help readers re-create the latest looks seen on the catwalks and celebrities, as well as bringing them the latest fashion news, trends, style tips & insights into the world of fashion bloggers.
A: There are so many fashion bloggers that I enjoy following. I love http://stylebitehof.wordpress.com/ as well as http://fashion-train.blogspot.com/ and http://gemfatale.blogspot.com
What is the best thing about blogging? A: I love being able to write about the different fashions that I love as well as learning about new trends, collections and seasonal must haves. I really enjoy giving my opinion on latest trends and celebrity looks and inspiring readers with my fashion posts.
Where did your passion for fashion come from? A: I would say that my passion for fashion came after working in retail. I would secretly browse the rails through-out the day as I pretended to tidy, making a note of which pieces I would buy after my shift finished. Since then I began reading hoards of fashion magazines and websites which led to try fashion Journalism!
How would you describe your style? A: I would describe my style as fairly casual. I tend to stick to skinny jeans with a cool, fashionable top. I try to be as fashionable as I can while still staying comfortable.
Who Is Your Style Icon? A: I don't really have a specific style icon as lots of different celebrities and people catch my eye. Celebs such as Fearne Cotton and Alexa Chung are common style icons for most people, myself included but it's my friends and family and people on the street wearing great outfits that inspire me.
What do you think are the key Spring Summer trends for 2011? A: The Nautical trend is on it's way back yet again but there is a slight twist this year with the introduction of colourful stripes. Sheer maxi skirts are going to be huge as well as coloured lace and tassels.
What Spring Summer fashion items will you not be able to live without? A: Accessories always complete an outfit and I love statement necklaces and other jewellery. I won't be able to live without chunky rings and bangles as well as gorgeous necklaces.
What trends will you be following for Spring Summer 2011? A: Peter Pan collars are still going strong so I'll definitely be getting in on that.
What will be your must have fashion piece for Spring Summer? A: I think I'm definitely going to have to get myself a pretty tea dress. They are so popular at the moment and perfect for the Spring/Summer weather.
What would be your 'Hot look' for day and evening wear? A: Something simple and casual worn in the day can always be worked into a hot evening look with a pair of killer heels and statement jewellery. A simple tea dress or Peter Pan collared dress would look great in the day with a cute pair of flats but could easily be changed into an evening outfit with the addition of patterned tights and killer heels.
Do you have a favourite tweeter or blogger to follow? A: My favourite tweeter is Miss Kimmy (from the blog Strawberry Stiletto) she is very hilarious and my favourite blogger is Claire from The Fashion Bomb! Both ladies inspire me to continue blogging and seek a non traditional career in the fashion industry.
What do you think are the key Spring Summer trends for 2011?
Kim at Divafashionblog.com What is the best thing about blogging? A: It's the ability to express your creativity with the use of art, fashion, and technology!
Where did your passion for fashion come from? A: My passion for fashion began at the tender age of 4 years old when my grandmother gave me my first handbag! That is when my love affair with fashion, art, and style began. From that point, I began to sketch clothing in high school and took a course in Fashion Merchandising. I loved the fashion merchandising class in high school and decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising and Design from Alabama A&M University.
How would you describe your style? A: My personal style is very polished, preppy and sophisticated. I love tailored blazers, skinny jeans, pencil skirts and ballerina flats. But when I am feeling like a “Diva” I will wear pumps, pearls, ruffle dress and a few vintage pieces.
Who is your style icon? A: That‟s depends on my mood! I love the glamour of Dianna Ross; the sophistication of Michelle Obama; and the creativity of June Ambrose.
A:
Some of the key trends for Spring/Summer 2011 include 70‟s Glamour inspired clothing such as high waist, wide leg pants, bow blouses, hot pants, slinky gowns and jumpsuits; Motorcycle Chic with jackets, zippers, quilting, and leather pants; Punk fashion such as studs, heavy boots, and safety pins; 60s inspired clothing such as full/granny skirts, bombshell dresses, and kitten heels. In addition to the trends above, we will see lace, strips, crop tops, bell bottoms, and bold colours.
What Spring Summer fashion items will you not be able to live without? A: Personally, I will not be able to live without owning a jumpsuit, bow blouses, high waist pants, bombshell dress, kitten heels and a pair of vintage sunglasses.
What will be your must have fashion piece for Spring Summer? A: The must have fashion piece for Spring/Summer 2011 will be a 60‟s inspired housewife dress. I love how feminine and ladylike each dress and skirt appears to be for the season. I will definitely wear with a pair of pearls and sexy shoes!
What would be your 'Hot look' for day and evening wear? A: My hot look for day time will be a pair of high waist jeans, vintage sunglasses, and bow blouse; an evening look with inspiration for spring 2011 will include a slinky 70‟s inspired dress with a pair of glitzy heels.

from the confidence I‟ve developed as I‟ve grown up and settled down in my late twenties
Who Is Your Style Icon? A: This varies from week to week, but my most recent style crushes are Dannii Minogue – who looked so stylish and elegant throughout the X Factor, and Christina Hendricks – who makes me proud of my curves.
Do you have a favourite tweeter or blogger to follow? A: My current favourites are MyFashDiary (www.myfashdiary.com), I love Tala‟s „Look of the Day‟ features and The Luxe Life (www.theluxelife.com), pure luxury indulgence!
What is the best thing about blogging? A: The aspect I enjoy the most is the freedom
What do you think are the key Spring Summer trends for 2011? A: Watch out for the return of the flare. Great
to share my individual views and I love meeting other people passionate about fashion– something that my site has given me the opportunity to do.
news for all us girls with hips and an opportunity to reinvent your look by teaming your new jeans with your AW10 shoes, boots and blouses.
Where did your passion for fashion come from? A: I started from an unusual angle, as a website designer and affiliate marketer I wanted to create a site I could use to build a revenue stream. It was only once I had the site and I started to read more about the fashion industry that I got the „proverbial bug‟. Since then I have rebuilt the site and incorporated a blog to allow me to express my opinions on a subject that I‟m now very passionate about!
How would you describe your style? A: I think I‟m still very much developing my style as I continue to learn more and more about fashion. But I guess I‟d described it as simple, yet elegant. I am getting more adventurous in my old age (!),something that I think comes
What Spring Summer fashion items will you not be able to live without? A: Boots! Flat boots and wedge ankle boots to be specific, the former for practicality and the latter for late night comfort.
What trends will you be following for Spring Summer 2011? A: I‟m fascinated to see if the ballerina trend inspired by Black Swan continues. I hope it does as I‟ve already got my eye on a beautiful blush silk D&G skirt.
What will be your must have fashion piece for Spring Summer? A: Statement jewellery, particularly statement necklaces.
Since my childhood, fashion has been something you can't avoid.
How would you describe your style? A: I would describe my style as rock, chic yet sophisticated at the same time.
Who Is Your Style Icon? A: My style icon is Victoria Beckham and Kourtney Kardashian.
Modamee is the online fashion/ celebrity magazine that features articles about celebrity gossip, their lifestyle and style as well as covers all major fashion shows all year round.
What is the best thing about blogging? A: The best thing about blogging is that you can establish your voice in the entertainment industry and provide your readers with the content worth talking about, share with my readers the passion I have for beauty.
Where did your passion for fashion come from? A: For me fashion is all about beauty and style, fun and glamour. My passion came from mom who has always been very classy and stylish, who was always telling me that what is fashionable is not what everybody wears but what looks good on you. I grew up in Europe where style is not an option.
Do you have a favourite tweeter or blogger to follow? A: Oh, there are so many. I follow a lot of celebrities because it is part of my job to know what's up in the celebrity and entertainment world.
What do you think are the key Spring Summer trends for 2011? A: The key trend of Spring Summer 2011 is definitely tights: in black, in colour, with stones and glitter. A lot of designers like Giorgio Armani, Chanel had their models walk down the runway in tights with skirts, suits, dresses.
What Spring Summer fashion items will you not be able to live without? A: I will not be able to live without my aviator sunglasses, skinny jeans and strapped heels.
What would be your 'Hot look' for day and evening wear? A: Hot look for the day would be my skinny jeans with a top, jacket and black heels. For the evening I prefer wearing mini dresses.

PLATFORM WEDGES
SPRING SUMMER 2011 This season is all about pushing the style boundaries and making a statement. From colour blocking style seen at Jil Sander, neon colours and floral prints. This season there are many alternatives to wearing sandals. There has been an evolution of shoes for Spring including both floral print heels, platform wedges and for those who love flats, Espadrilles.
FLORAL In the Kindred Sole Edition office it wouldn't matter if florals were in, out or indifferent because whether its Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter we just love floral prints. But for Spring Summer 2011 floral has gone epic! From head to toe floral maxi dresses and even trousers, this season go made for floral print. From chintzy prints to graphic prints this is the print of the season. Whether you are a true romantic with the smaller prints or fashion forward with bold floral prints just make sure you get those HOT floral items as they will be a sell out. We have to say Kindred Sole has some gorgeous floral treats in the form of sandals, wedges and espadrilles heading our way this season - Watch this space!! ESPADRILLES
This season sees a shift in on trend shoes. Last Spring Espadrilles were fashion forward but this season it should
be embraced by all shoppers. Espadrilles are fantastic, on trend and versatile shoes that can be styled with an array of outfits throughout Summer and even be teamed with fitted jeans into Autumn. Choose bright colours to be on the fashion pulse this season or try and test Espadrilles with subtle colours - we assure you, you will not be disappointed!
Jil Sander
Inspired by the trend of the season, '70's Style'. Platform Wedges can be worn by most with the platform sole making them easy to walk in. They complement 70s inspired clothing from maxi dresses to flare jeans, adding a quirky edge. From bold, leather wedges to more feminine raffia wedge heels, this season everyone should own a pair or two of wedges.
COLOURS 2011 Spring Summer 2011 trends embrace colour. This season see's the biggest, boldest and brightest colour trends. From neon, cobalt blue and colour blocking, this season make a statement with colour. To style this trend put together an outfit of block colour pieces from hot pink, lemon yellow, green and cobalt blue. Your muse for this trend should be Jil Sander. For an understated outfit try striped bold coloured clothing as seen on the Spring Summer 2011 runways at Prada. If you like this trend but don't feel confident enough to go all out with colour blocking try layering different pieces. Another way of introducing colour blocking and bright colours into your wardrobe if you are not used to it is by using accessories. This was prominent on the Spring Summer 2011 runways of Fendi. If you love neon colours this season take influence from Christopher Kane who layered neon colours beautifully. Colour Blocking is a fierce trend that will add attitude and glamour to your look this season. Be bold, bright and fabulous with colour this season!

KS EDITION HEARTS A LOOK AT WHATS HOT THIS SEASON FROM MUSIC, FILM & FESTIVALS
THE SINGLE: ADELE - SOMEONE LIKE YOU Following Adele's phenomenal performance of Someone Like You at the Brit Awards 2011, everyone seems to have this single on repeat. Taken from her new album '21'.
All eyes were on London Fashion Week 18 - 22 February 2011. Straight from New York editors, bloggers and all fashionistas flocked to the capital. Retailers had their fingers crossed for directional trends for Autumn Winter 2011-2012 that consumers would love, and they were not disappointed. From granny chic at House Of Holland to new look trend coats at Burberry Prorsum. We look at the Top 5 catwalks at London Fashion Week from the top trends to the extremely creative shows. BURBERRY PRORSUM It was the show that got everyone
talking,
Burberry
Prorsum.
Christopher Bailey took Burberry Prorsum in a new direction with new shapes,
colours
and
looks that he has not created for a while. The collection was very clear and working well together with yet another new direction for the trench coat. The catwalk was held in a tent by Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens with a captivating soundtrack including Adele 'Someone Like You'. Colours at Burberry Prorsum included orange, teal, red and olive. Details included chunky fastenings and tall collars on trench coats. A black and white look made an appearance which complimented the previous bright colours and meant commercially there was something for everyone. Models wore black platform high heel leather shoes with a continued influence of Spring Summer 2011 trend of wedges. The finale of Burberry Prorsum was spectacular with fake snow raining down on the catwalk. Models walked the finale in transparent macs - these are what are on everybody's wish list! Autumn Winter 2011-2012! CHRISTOPHER KANE Christopher Kane's Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection showcased at London Fashion Week was inspired by school nostalgia from pencil cases to lollipops. The collection is to be known at the 'liquid collection' which is about wearable and sophisticated clothes.
The first looks included greens, browns and turquoise with pencil skirts and cardigans and the inclusive of crochet pieces. The liquid influence appeared in the form of pockets and parts of collars made from strips of plastic and waistbands emphasized with wave shaped strips of plastic. Accessories included plastic clutch bags matching the fluid plastic effects. The final looks were more transparent and delicate with softer tones being used.
HOLLY FULTON Displaying the best of new British fashion talent at London Fashion week was Holly Fulton winner of NEWGEN sponsorship. Holly Fulton quickly became a trending topic on Twitter with people complimenting her first yellow and black tweed look, art deco inspired dresses and her signature geometric prints. Models did struggle to walk in their uber high heels with one model having to take hers off during the catwalk. The use of chunky accessories and jewellery with studded detailing was gorgeous. Holly Fulton prints included baroque swirls, art deco cityscapes on silk trousers and maxi dresses. Trousers and a maxi dress featuring a repeat 'lip print' pattern got fashion followers talking. However Holly Fulton's simple black velvet dress was just as captivating. With Samantha Cameron in the front row, Holly Fulton's Autumn Winter 2011 2012 catwalk got everyone's seal of approval
HOUSE OF HOLLAND With everyone remembering last season's pompom earrings we couldn't wait to see what Henry Holland had created this Autumn Winter 2011 2012 season. House Of Holland is always loud and statement making yet it always has a sexy twist and somehow Holland has done it again with Granny Chic! The pompom earrings were replaced with big pearl hoops by Katie Hillier. Holland stated "Our girl is too young to wear a pearl necklace so we beaded them on to her dress and made it sexy". To add to the pearls were tweeds and bingo ball prints! Every item had Holland's signature style and humour. Bold, block colours were styled together including fuscia pink mid length skirt with box pleats (a glimpse of a silk slip underneath), orange blazer and purple shirt. Like Christopher Kane, Henry Holland also included crochet pieces into his Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection but in a different way. Holland styled crochet cami tops with printed crochet tights. Holland continued the socks and shoes trend with high heel court shoes and stripy ankle socks.
MATTHEW WILLIAMSON The London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection by Matthew Williamson was inspired by Francisco Infante-Arana who is a premier Russian avant-garde artist. Francisco combines innovative creations and photographs them in natural landscapes. Williamson commented "I've tried to take the quite nomadic DNA of our brand and combine it with a technical aspect, really fusing the two extremes." Williamson chose Philips de Pury building to enable viewers to see the detail that went into all the pieces - Battersea Power Station was last year's venue choice. Beads and sequins were intricately layered onto one another. The colours within the catwalk show were stunning with pinks, greys and nudes being used. Chunky knit socks were styled with heavy duty wooden wedges. Leather skirts and jackets with padded textures added a feminine attitude to the styling. The slouchy silk trousers are a favorite of ours. The combination of textures including sheer shirts, silk trousers and leather jackets added a feminine touch to soft tailored looks.
Paris Fashion week is always a shining star in the world of fashion where fashion's who's who sits up and pays attention. This year Paris Fashion week was no different, however John Galliano took centre stage at Paris Fashion week and not for the right reasons. The Dior designer has been sacked following in the wake of allegations of anti-Semitism. However the show must go on which it did where the designer wasn't present at the show for his collection Paris Fashion week 2011 we look at the best designs and shows so far. CELINE Phoebe Philo's collection for Celine incorporated minimalism, craft, sportswear and inspirations from automotive interiors with streamline cuts. The overall simplicity of this collection caught our eye. Trousers played an important role in this Autumn Winter collection which was refreshing. Two toned trousers were a favourite which used both tweed and leather fabrics. Celine Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection could show the return the polo neck. The chevron stripe jumper gave a true statement to what the of collection was about, laidback sophistication. The use of panels within the construction of pieces complimented the block colour trends that came from London Fashion Week this season. Paneling in shirts to the paneled cream leather dress showed this collection complimented the figure. LANVIN The dark colours at Lanvin were luxurious and chic. Jewel hued tones for evening gowns were fabulous accents for Lanvin Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection. We were captivated by the wide brimmed hats and structured dresses, skirts and capes within the first set of the collection. The sternness style of the collection was mystifying. The show progressed to include black and white large floral print dresses (we love!) and draped evening dresses which are designer Alber Elbaz's signature style. The final set included brighter colours which created dresses with volume.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER Jean Paul Gaultier Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection was all about making a statement. Not necessarily of outlandish fashion but more of a statement of society. Jean Paul Gaultier collection at Paris Fashion Week included a witty take on age, Jean Paul Gaultier stated, "how to look young - without Botox". Models were styled with grey wigs that had been backcombed and given exaggerated French pleat styles. Before his show in Paris on Saturday Jean Paul Gaultier evaluated his collection, "no corsets, no flesh! It's quite ladylike. I can't believe it". Here at Kindred Sole we love the grown up elegance of Jean Paul Gaultier's collection but love even more how a theatrical style was involved including models stripping off layers of clothing, leaving a pile at the end of the runway. The collection embraced Parisian chic with the use of prints, trouser suits and belted trench coats. The tailoring at Jean Paul Gaultier was so chic and with pieces including pussy cat bow blouses and tweed skirts and jackets, the collection was wearable. VIVIENNE WESTWOOD Vivienne Westwood is a name synonymous with fashion. Her shows are guaranteed to get people talking as a statement is always at the heart of the collection. Vivienne Westwood Gold Label collection at Paris Fashion Week encapsulated a 'Woman as Warrior' theme. "I can't keep banging on about climate change, so I decided to express my thoughts about the planet through strong women, and the fact women are the guardians of culture," said Dame Vivienne Westwood after her show. Her inspirations from around the world were captivating. Prints and patterns created the fabulous looks of the show including batik prints, country florals, pinstripes and British plaids. The statement making geometric prints balanced with Victorian blouses with puff sleeves meant a balance between warrior and femininity. The tousled hair styled with face paint complimented the collection.
CHRISTIAN DIOR Christian Dior's Paris Fashion Week show began with a moving speech from Dior president, Sidney Toledano. This was following the dismissal of designer John Galliano amid anti-Semitic remarks made. Due to these circumstances there was tight security and a heavy police presence. The disgraced British designer was absent from the show. Christian Dior's Autumn Winter 2011 2012 collection included 62 models and seemed to reveal an overall look back on Dior's previous seasons. The collection was ultra feminine. Fabrics were either sheer, appliquéd or included features or fabric manipulation. An influence of lingerie was apparent with floaty silhouettes and frilly bloomers. The colour's within the collection were perfect for Autumn with burgundy, black and emerald green colour tones being used.

Q: I'm looking to update my work wardrobe. I'm 38 years old, a size 12 and an average height. I have always worn a trouser suit and was hoping you could suggest suitable dress types for me for the office? Claire, Cambridge A: In the 70's Diane von Furstenberg blessed womankind with the jersey wrap dress. To date I do not think a more flattering, nor versatile design has ever hit the runway. Amazingly the wrap dress flatters all shapes and sizes, whilst looking sophisticated and feminine, and more importantly for you, Claire, it is very office friendly. Try this Abstract Lines Wrap Dress by CC at House of Fraser, £99 And on chillier days don't forget to pop one of your short suit jackets over the top!
Q: I am going on holiday at the beginning of March and want to treat myself with holiday clothes shopping. Are there any summer trends should look out for clothes, shoes and accessories? Danielle, Bristol A: This Spring Summer is all about the romance, fun and carefree feeling of the 70s – perfect for a holiday wardrobe. Go bohemian for daywear with light floaty-florals and gladiator sandals. Estelle Gladiator Shoes at kindredsole.com £35 At night you need to think 70s glamour, so opt for shiny and metallic maxi dresses with plunging necklines, teamed up with bold accessories like this Lola Rose Precious Stone Gold Plated ring from asos.com £75 When shopping I do love colourful clothes but always seem to end up wearing black. How can I introduce a little bit of colour into my wardrobe? Tanya, Manchester A: Of course the obvious solution is to introduce bright accessories, but try to think a little more out of the box when introducing colour into an otherwise drab wardrobe. I think colour blocking is a great solution to this common problem, and it can be done by adding just a few colourful key pieces to what you already have. For example, if you are heading out for a night on the tiles wearing your favourite LBD and some killer black shoes, pop on some brightly coloured opaque tights. I swear by the Pretty Polly Vibrant range, these are 60 Denier Raspberry, £4 from mytights.com.
Shopping with the girls? Throw a bright jacket or cardigan over your black top and jeans combo. I think this Mustard Cardigan from Topshop is a really cute way to add colour in an understated manner, and at only £38 it's a great multifunctional wardrobe update. Q: I couldn’t live without jeans in my wardrobe. For the past couple of years I have mostly been wearing skinny jeans but fancy a change. Are there any styles you would recommend that are going to be on trend this year? Hannah, London A: Hannah its really important to get jeans right so I am a big advocate for wearing the right style for your shape, rather than the right style for the moment. However, making the right choice this season has been made much simpler due to the 70s inspired comeback. Probably the hottest look for denim this year is going to be the high waisted bootleg jean, which also happens to be a style that will flatter most shapes and sizes. The high waistline is extremely flattering especially if you have a little tum as it sucks your gut in and eliminates muffin tops The wide flair at the bottom of the leg will also change your proportions to make your torso slimmer. Finally I would always recommend going for a dark denim as this is most flattering. Try these High Waisted Boot Cut Jeans from Next £25
Q: My friend has a pair of brogues I really like and have been wondering whether I could wear them. I tend to wear flat shoes a lot, mostly ballet pumps and think brogues would make a nice change. What are the best things to wear with brogues? Zara, Stafford A: Brogues are actually really easy to style up, in fact you can pretty much wear them with anything. Try wearing them with skinny jeans, a graphic tee and boyfriend blazer for a very casual look. If you want to go a bit girlier, team some brogues up with a floral dress and cardigan for a bit of granny chic! Simple!

Kindred Sole Edition Q: Other than yourself, which other new artists should we be looking out for in 2011? Molly Smitten Downes A: There‟s so much talent out there at the moment it‟s hard to say. Most of the artists that come through the mainstream have large management and record labels behind them but there are loads if acts doing the circuit that don‟t get the recognition or exposure they deserve. If you want to hear fresh decent music, there‟s usually several live music nights going on in every city and its worth going down to check out the talent. KSE Q: How would you describe your sound? MSD A: Well there‟s a question! Haha… my sound is acoustic folk/rock with elements of electro/dance. It‟s basically pop but hopefully in the good sense of the word?! Some of my music is much more traditional singer songwriter with just a piano or guitar and my voice.
KSE Q: If you could collaborate or work with any other artist who would you choose? MSD A: I‟d love to do a collaboration with someone like Chase and Status or someone really house like the Swedish House Mafia or Dead Mou5. I‟ve been loving dub step at the moment too. KSE Q: When can we expect to see your next single/album released? MSD A: There are a few tracks that I‟m getting deals on as we speak so they will hopefully be released before Easter. They‟re collaborations I have done with some house and hardcore DJs/producers which has been fun! With regards to my album – I‟ve got to decide on what‟s going on it first! I‟ve currently got 20 songs on the shortlist so there needs to be some brutal cuts made.
KSE Q: What has been the highlight of your music career so far? MSD Q: The highlight of my music career so far was getting a publishing deal. As much as I want to be an artists, I love being a writer and getting a publishing deal meant I could consider and refer to myself as one which felt amazing. Obviously getting a top 10 was pretty cool too although it's not the no 1 'm after heehee. KSE Q: What are your plans for 2011? MSD A: My plans for 2011 are to tidy up my repertoire into a more concise package and get a 'Molly' album out. I want my album to be one you can play from start to finish and not get bored. Getting the right production is key and it's not something you can rush. I don't think people realise how much time is spent on a song before it is deemed 'radio friendly' or finished? When I first write a track I'd love to just stick it on facebook or on my website and get feedback but you just can't. I've found it a challenge to be so patient. I've always wanted to run before I can walk! KSE Q: Who has been your musical inspiration? MSD A: My musical inspiration stems right back to my parents who played all the old mow town classics, a bit of Elton John, Queen, some country such as Patsy Cline, blues and jazz. I can listen to Jack Johnson, Amos Lee and Nora Jones and then fancy some Rage Against the Machine, Damien Marley and Nas?! I suppose it's similar for everyone. Most people like 'a bit of everything'. I love artists that have experimented in different genres such as Nelly Furtado-she's amazing.

DJ BEN LEARY Kindred Sole Edition Q: Other than yourself, which other new artists should we be looking out for in 2011? BL A: Not necessarily a new artist but Alex Dolby has been killing it recently with some quality house music. He made my summer with his „No Walls‟ track which sounded electric in Space Nightclub, Ibiza! You‟ve got to love the Space terrace on a Sunday! KSE Q: How would you describe your sound? BL A: The sounds I mix generally change dependant on location and time slot. People‟s tastes differ from club to club and bar to bar. Some crowds prefer more underground deeper sounds where as others are into big energetic rolling tech. For example when I played at Cellar Door, home of FACE I played a slightly different sound than I‟ll play at my new residency for DigBeat, Studio 79 (Ashby). Although a typical set will normally consist of deep house, house, and tech house from labels such as Viva, Lost My Dog, and Saved. I also like to browse the smaller labels to source material that thousands of people aren‟t playing, but I like to keep those labels and tracks a secret. KSE Q: If you could collaborate or work with any other artist who would you choose? BL A: Tom Middleton to find out how he produces those crazy old school riffs! KSE Q: When can we expect to see your next single/album released? BL A: I have a single coming out on Point Blank called Party Preacher on the 24th March. Point Blank is a new label started by Point Blank Music School, London. I attended this college for a number of months last year so it was an excellent opportunity for a new release. The track is a collaboration with Carl Holyoak but I‟m using another guise as it‟s a completely different style to my normal sound. Point Blank has had some great student successes including Leona Lewis, Tayo, and Gareth Wyn so it‟s exciting times at the moment. KSE Q: What has been the highlight of your music career so far? Getting support for my releases from big players such as Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox, Anthony Pappa, Joris Voorn, and KISS FM. Good Times!
KSE Q: Who has been your musical inspiration? BL A: James Zabeila and Carl Cox both are technical geniuses and they don‟t stand behind the booth like a sack of spuds! KSE Q: What are your plans for 2011? BL A: I‟m starting a B2B DJ set up with my good friend Simon Norris. We are exploring our sounds to mould the performance into one. We have slightly different styles but it creates peaks and dips in energy and creates a more diverse set by us playing together. I‟ll also be playing my residency alongside artists including Carl Holyoak, Adam Masters and Simon Norris for DigBeat. This event takes place in Ashby at Studio 79. The night consists of House, Tech House, Breaks, Drum and Bass, the lot! I can‟t wait till the next one on the 1st April. Listen to my latest tracks.

Hannah B www.hannahbmusic.com Kindred Sole Edition Q: Other than yourself, which other new artists should we be looking out for in 2011? Hannah B A: I really like a guy called Ben Kelly. He has done loads of great covers of songs on YouTube and I think his original stuff is great too. Recently he‟s been playing in venues around London and I‟m hoping to go and see him live some time soon. You can listen to him by following the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlMW7ARn7f4 I also think Adele is going to have a great 2011, I love her latest single and her new album is great!
KSE Q: How would you describe your sound? HB A: I find it really hard to describe my own voice and style but if I had to I would say something along the lines of pop/ soul. KSE Q: If you could collaborate or work with any other artist who would you choose? HB A: I think the most interesting collaborations come from artists of completely different styles, so if I could pick anyone I think (in a dream world) I would say Muse or Kasabian. KSE Q: When can we expect to see your next single/album released? HB A: I‟m going to be releasing an EP in March which I‟m really excited about. There will be 4 or 5 tracks that give a bit of a
of what my music is all about. Apart from that don‟t expect anything… then you can‟t possibly be disappointed!! KSE Q: What has been the highlight of your music career so far? HB A: Supporting James Morrison was fantastic and I really enjoyed performing at the Abbey Park Fireworks. They were definitely the highlights of 2010. KSE Q: What are your plans for 2011? HB A: Apart from finishing off my EP I‟m planning a few big events this year. I‟m helping to organise and performing at a charity event called Midsummer‟s Big Night in June, last year we raised over £50,000.00 for charity and are aiming to top it this year. I‟m also putting on my own gig at the O2
Academy Leicester in July and will hopefully be performing at some good local festivals too. KSE Q: Who has been your musical inspiration? HB A: It‟s more a question of what than who… My inspiration comes from my experiences and trying to look at a situation from different perspectives. For example my song „Selfish‟ was inspired by looking at how we usually portray the person who breaks your heart as „the bad guy‟ and thinking about it from their point of view.
