What are your fail safe instant fabulous pick-me-ups when you’re feeling a little less than well, fabulous? If you look your best, you feel your best but I’m a big believer in minimum effort, maximum results when it comes to my beauty regime! I opt for beauty treatments that leave me feeling pampered along with a boost in spirits. Blink + Go Lash Extensions are a very quick way to looking, and therefore feeling, fabulous. They only take 20 minutes and last around two weeks. The lashes are applied over and in between your own lashes to add volume, thickness and length. Extra flutter-ability = instant confidence. Buying a good skin illuminator also works wonders – applied like a facial moisturiser, it will make you look as though you’ve had the best nights sleep, even if the truth is otherwise. What makes a woman utterly fabulous? Confidence and self-belief. If you don’t believe in yourself, no amount of lip gloss or delicious stilettos will make you fabulous ! they’re just the wonderful bonuses that enhance your already fabulous self. It’s not just what’s on your feet; it’s what’s in your head.
How did you come up with the idea for your book the Modern Girls Guide to Fabulousness? Firstly, I think it is about time someone cut all the C.R.A.P out of this noisy ad-inundated world and delivered news and tips on what really is great out there, giving tried and tested, unbiased, not bribed-by-money opinions. I have cut to the chase to promote intelligent spending, so women know what and where to spend their time and money with confidence (now more essential than ever). It’s also part of my role as a style and beauty writer and presenter to source stories, new ventures and covetable finds. Throw in my genuine passion to support new talent and note my in-demand opinion to industry and peers of ‘where to go, what to try, who to wear’ – then you have the workings of an incredibly desirable little black book of contacts and sources. As Elle MacPherson said - "Bethanie separates the so-so from the sensational" In your opinion how do you take an outfit from so-so to sensational? Accessories can turn an outfit from drab to darling in an instant and without breaking the bank. I count lipstick as an accessory so teaming the ordinarily plain combo of a cute tee and jeans with red lippy and a trilby hat turns you into a glamazon in seconds. Heels always make me feel sensational and due to the added height they provide, they give the illusion of looking longer and leaner. You’ll have to buy my book for the best tips in how to walk in high heels though! How would you describe your fashion style? A large spoonful of glamour and femininity sprinkled with a handful of playfulness and quirkiness. I’m a big hat fan and love to wear kid’s jewellery too as it shows my sense of humour and confidence. I like to be original and love making people look twice (whether in shock or admiration)! What has been your No: 1 find whilst researching for your book? That’s a tough one. There have been so many wonderful discoveries, after all – only the most fabulous have made it in the book and I toured the entire country to find them. It’s an A-Z guide brimming with advice from me and celebrities, tips for busy parents, spa reviews, restaurants and hotels to suit your mood and occasion, a whole section on shopping… I won’t give too much away but I will say – you must try burlesque dancing, you have to fly a gyrocopter and drink a six inch stiletto Are there any more books in the pipeline? Indeed! The Modern Girl’s Guide to Fabulousness is my first book but I will be producing a series of books in specialist areas and for other countries. You can expect The Modern Girl’s Guide to parenting, The Modern Girl’s Guide Stateside and even The Modern Girl’s Guide Down Under. They’ll become collectors items, like the coolest, most accessible travel guides and lifestyle bibles you’ve ever owned – tour guides that tell you the secret addresses of your chosen city, the places you really want to know about (rather than the tourist landmarks we all know about already), you won’t want to put them down.

PHOTOGRAPHER: KIMBERLEY JANE TURRELL MODEL: PROMISE ARMSTRONG
Kindred Sole had put together two Autumn Winter 2010 collections, 'Femme Fatale' and 'Woodland Wonder'. A photoshoot was then necessary. We called upon Photographer and Designer Kim Turrell, the founder of Kimberley-Jane Photography. Promise Armstrong, Fashion Retail Buying Student was selected as our campaign model. Kim photographed Promise in a combination of stories from stables for 'Woodland Wonder' to a JCB truck for 'Femme Fatale'.
