Heather Vines “The Wild

Betheny Keller is a nursing student who will graduate in Fall of 2021. She has lived in the Tri-Cities her entire life. Inspiration for this poem came to her after reading The Unsettling of America by Wendell Berry.

THE WILD

To the wilderness I go, off to find my sanity. Away from human control, where all I see is chaos. In the wild, I find order. The rhythms of civilization lead to harm. In the wilderness, everything functions as it should. Without the touch of human hands, perfect order thrives.
