Travelling to School We would like to remind all your sons and daughters who walk or cycle to school that during the dark winter months, their visibility to other road users can be a real issue and the wearing of appropriate safety equipment is very important. They can see the cars as they travel to School but motorists cannot always see them without appropriate lights or visibility jackets.
Charities Commission Christmas Stalls Crush Hall 14 to 17 December There will be games and all sorts of Christmas paraphernalia!
Remember too that safety helmets save many lives each year.
On Friday 13 November the School experienced its first serious fire in living memory as it prepared for Open Evening. Fortunately the blaze was contained within a Design Technology department workshop after a control panel failed in a laser cutting machine. The disruption has been considerable but, after an extraordinary effort by the School’s facilities team, most of the building was returned to normal use by Monday 23 November. However, one workshop requires significant refurbishment and it will not Be available until next term. Very fortunately, no member of the School was injured and no student work was lost. We owe the Fire Service a debt of gratitude for the highly professional manner in which they brought the fire under control. 3

Parents’ Childnet Talk Internet Safety Seminar for Parents Thursday 28 January, 2016 at 7.00pm
CAR PARKING
You are invited to attend the Know IT All seminar presented by Childnet International.
We have been asked to remind all parents with regard to the zig-zag markings outside the principal entrances to the School. Please make a point of keeping these areas clear at all times, particularly when delivering or collecting your children.
This is a very informative presentation which will give you an insight on how your child uses online and mobile technologies and the pitfalls and risks that can be associated with it.
Prior to the marking up of these lines, not only was there a critical problem of congestion at the School entrances but these areas were also unsafe for pupils. This was particularly true at the Kellett Road gates, where the whole area in front of the Caretaker's house, to the road, must be kept completely clear of cars, as a safe zone for pedestrians only. The gates themselves must be left clear for essential access to and from the School site.
Further information will follow in the End of Term Bulletin
Message from the Nursing Team
Parents are advised to park further down Kellett Road or in Radway Road, Wilton Road and Kineton Road and make arrangements with their sons/daughters to meet them there. By using these alternative roads, parents can do much to ease the congestion at the end of the School day.
If your son/daughter brings an inhaler into School please make sure it is named as unfortunately, nameless inhalers have to be disposed of, due to health and safety requirements. If you wish to discuss this or other matters, please contact the Nursing team on 023 80799213.
