A successful trip Responsibilities: . You represent KES and your family and need to act responsibly. (Alcohol/Smoking) You will be seen as role models for many of the Goedgedacht children and need to act accordingly.

. Whilst in SA you must be aware of your environment and take extra care of your possessions, especially in Cape Town. . Tell someone (teachers above all) if you are experiencing difficulties so that they may be sorted.

Expectations: • Language difficulties with some of the young children are to be expected. Try to learn some Afrikaans before heading to the farm. • Remember that you are there to help and support and so you need to be ready to try anything that you are offered at the farm. • Please be flexible and make the most of this opportunity. Don’t hold back, push yourself and go outside of your comfort zone.

• This could be a life changing experience for you – enjoy it!

Background research invaluable • Do some reading – find out about Apartheid • Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela • Watch the film Invictus
