AUGUST 2018

ISSUE 5

The power of prayer Last month saw the fourth International Day of Prayer, as thousands of believers from the UK to the Philippines came together in prayer for our world. Acts 4:31 records that, in the wake of the disciples praying together, “…the building where they were meeting shook and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” Believing, powerful prayer shakes things - not just buildings, but belief systems, entrenched attitudes, spiritual atmosphere and more. We are beginning to hear about the shaking that is happening in the light of this year’s IDOP. From a growing youth outreach and multiple baptisms in the Philippines, to new pastors being trained in Malawi and new opportunities for Kingfisher to expand into Rwanda, to a new church being planted in Delhi and church growth in the Punjab, the ‘shaking’ is beginning to be felt!

This month, our National Director in Malawi, Charles Mithowa, is travelling to Rwanda to conduct a Kingfisher Leadership training meeting. There is a small team there who are interested in opening a Kingfisher church and want to be trained. God has blessed Charles with an abundant harvest of maize this year, which he is using to finance this visit. Our teaching materials are also now being used in Cameroon, Central Africa. Spearheaded by The Cameroon Centre for Evangelisation and Hope under the leadership of Pastor Hyacinthe Obam, a growing number of pastors and leaders are being taught these materials.

Prayer changes far more than we realise

There is a shaking the is happening around the world. A huge evangelistic event is being planned in the Punjab, India this October, where 20,000 - 30,000 are expected to attend to hear the gospel, organised by church leaders who last year attended our first Conference in that region. All of this springs from the prayers of the saints, a central part of which has been the IDOP. Thank you for your prayers and let us never give up bringing our nations before God, believing for the heavens and the earth to shake as a result.

In the Philippines, God is bringing about transformation among the DEP students, with many of them excelling in their studies and being fast-tracked through the education system. Why is their progress so remarkable? Not just because they are being sponsored by people from Kingfisher, but because they are being prayed for. Prayer changes far more than we realise - it shakes things up and causes breakthroughs in ways that are beyond our expectations.

Dumagat Education Program update

Feedback from the IDOP

New resources available

KINGFISHER INTERNATIONAL FAMILY NEWS

Dumagat Education Program August 2018 update Norlie, Rowena and Nicole were in the Philippines in July and were able to help hand out July’s supplies to the children who attend Sibug school and their families. Due to the heavy rain while they were there they were not able to get up into the mountain to deliver to the Bulak school children so the supplies were left with Aileen (the teacher at Bulak) and she took them up at a later date. The children started their new term in June so are now back at school with their new supplies. Several children have dropped out of the program, and of school, for various reasons, such as families moving away, one of the girls got married, families loosing their faith in education and those who can’t sustain the cost of sending their children to school, even with our help. Aileen and Norlie will be choosing some more children to sponsor to replace those who have left the program.

Pastor Noels’ caretaker is now living on the land at Sibug where we’ve built the toilet and kitchen block. The families of the children attending Sibug school will join him once they’ve got enough timber and roofing to build their accommodation there. The poles in front of the caretakers hut in the photo are the start of one of the families homes. Norlie and Rowena are personally funding the building of a mission house in Rio Chico town, about 20 minutes drive from Sibug. The mission house will be used as accommodation for visiting missionaries, amongst other things. Once that building is complete the timbers that are currently being used as scaffolding there will be given to the families to build their houses on the land at Sibug. There will probably be enough timbers for 4-5 houses but they will need more materials like nails, side walls, extra roofing etc. Please continue praying for this exciting project!

The IDOP at churches in the UK, Malawi and Mozambique

KINGFISHER INTERNATIONAL FAMILY NEWS

Resources Resources to help your ministry grow. Kingfisher has always been committed to seeing the Church grow healthily around the world, and it has been a joy to see training centres opening up in Malawi, Mozambique, India, and soon in the Philippines where leaders can come and be trained for ministry. In Malawi there are now many pastors who have been trained, equipped and sent out to plant churches. In Cameroon, Central Africa, our Called to Leadership training course is being translated into French and is already being used to equip local church leaders. Our Discipleship course material has been taught in Macao through Pastor Edwin Alfaro to his own congregation and other church leaders. Are you making use of the free resources that we produce? They are available on our website (www.kingfisher.org.uk) and are free to download and copy. We want to make these freely available to pastors and leaders around the world as part of our response to God’s challenge to see the church thoroughly equipped to work in his mission field. So many pastors are underequipped and isolated , unable to afford resources that are often expensive and difficult to get hold of. We want to make sure that pastors and leaders are not only well-equipped, but are well supported. We believe this is on God’s heart too, which is why the Kingfisher International Family continues to grow and reach more and more saints who are working tirelessly for him.

Announcing a new resource coming soon:

I Am Who I Am. God has many names in the Bible, and each on reveals an aspect of His character that will bless us and strengthen us. This resource takes 40 of those names, explains what each one means and how it can significantly bless us in our lives. This free resource will be available for you to download from October 1st from our website. Here is an excerpt from it:
