RTP 31 Two-hour Portable Electronic Device (PED) Course for Taxi & Limo Drivers

Prescribed by the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission, this is a mandatory course for those who were issued a summons for distracted driving in violation of the TLC Rule #2-25H. This course will provide drivers with the skills necessary to use portable electronic devices while operating a taxi cab. The $35 fee must be paid at least three days before the exam, and by Money Order only.
RTP 32 Four-hour English and Test Preparation for Taxi & Limo Drivers

If English is not your first language, this class will help you prepare for the Taxi & Limousine Commission’s English Language Proficiency Test. This class will give you the opportunity to take a practice exam, to practice pronouncing, recognizing, listening, and distinguishing numbers, addresses and spellings of common NYC destinations and landmarks, in addition to giving you opportunities to practice common courteous exchanges. Small class size customized for TLC drivers’ needs. The $25 registration fee is waived for this class.

RTP 71 Medallion Taxi Driver Workshop

This four-hour class is a TLC mandatory program that must be taken prior to your probationary license expiring. This course is specifically designed to provide all licensed Hack Operators with the fundamentals of professional development, communication skills and customer service, in addition to the skills necessary in providing excellent customer service to passengers with disabilities. Kitchen Ventures at Kingsborough
A collaborative initiative of the Office of Continuing Education, The Center for Economic and Workforce Development, and the Culinary Arts Program of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality. Kingsborough’s Kitchen Ventures (KV) initiative helps retail and wholesale food entrepreneurs get their businesses off the ground. The program offers supplemental education to help teach entrepreneurs how to strengthen their business plans, navigate the intricacies of distribution, early-stage catering, and compliance with regulatory procedures. KV utilizes four commercial kitchen spaces at Kingsborough to help deliver instruction and hands-on production, enabling participants to spin off and create their own, stable businesses in the community with greater success.

This course focuses on vascular anatomy and physiology, performance of venipuncture techniques and additional responsibilities of phlebotomists as members of the healthcare team. Prerequisite for CTF20 Materials Fee: $25 White lab coat required. Not included.
This course covers the care for persons with cognitive, and mental disabilities, including Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia. Includes 30 hours of Supervised Clinical Experience in a Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF). Pre-requisite: CTF 78. Pre-or Co-requisite RTP40. This course will prepare you to recertify for the NYS DOH paramedic examination. This course will review all areas that will be covered on the exam including the most recent national standards. You will be allowed to challenge the practical and written portions of the course. You will only be required to attend those sections which you do not pass. ACLS and PALS renewals are offered as optional components of this refresher but additional fees are required. CPR renewal is mandatory. With a NYS DOH voucher, you pay only $60 (for mandatory CPR renewal).
This course will prepare you to take the New York State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) examination. As an NYS EMT, you can work or volunteer anywhere in New York State. You will learn basic lifesaving techniques such as, but not limited to: scene safety, patient assessment, management of fractures, bleeding control, movement of patients, and oxygen administration. An EMT is one of the first healthcare providers on the scene during emergencies. Becoming an EMT is also a requirement if you are interested in becoming a paramedic. Applicants must be able to read and write English, be at least 18 years of age, and pass a pre-registration screening placement exam.
