Portable Electronic Device (PED) Course for Taxi & Limo Drivers $40 Prescribed by the New York City TLC, this is a mandatory course for those who have been issued a summons for distracted driving, in violation of the TLC Rule #5414E. This course will provide drivers with the skills necessary to use portable electronic devices while operating a vehicle under the TLC regulations.

Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) Training $75 MonWedFri 6-9pm

All New York City TLC licenced drivers must complete a mandatory three-hour Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) training program, as part of their TLC application and license renewal process. The program covers Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements for assisting wheelchair passengers in and out of taxis, as well as the proper use of vehicle access ramps, securing wheelchairs, and passenger lap and shoulder safety belts in a taxi.

Defensive Driving

Approved by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles, this six-hour accident prevention seminar will enable you to reduce your liability and collision insurance (automobile, motorcycle, recreational vehicle) by 10%, for three years. You can also obtain a reduction of four points in penalties on your driver’s license.

The $25 registration fee is waived for all Taxi & Limousine test-preparation courses. Please be punctual as latecomers will be turned away. CLIP is designed to help ESL learners prepare for university study, and is only available to students who have been accepted to a City University of New York (CUNY) College. Students who attend the program are expected to attend City University after completing CLIP. Students in the program will • Work intensively 25 hours per week to improve reading, writing, and academic skills without using their financial aid • Develop computer and research skills in a computer lab • Take CUNY placement tests (if eligible) before starting or returning to college You will need to bring a letter of acceptance, proving that you have been accepted to a CUNY college. In January 2014, New York State replaced the GED® exam with the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC™) as the principal pathway to a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Every year, HUNDREDS of adults who prepare at Kingsborough earn their HSE diplomas, and many then go on to Kingsborough Community College’s degree programs! This is one of the best instructional programs to prepare you for the TASC™ exam. §§ Test-taking practice with mini-exams based on the official TASC™ exam §§ Anxiety reduction and test-taking skills §§ Writing workshops to improve writing skills and prepare for the essay portion of the exam §§ Assistance in getting scheduled at our HSE Testing Center as soon as you are “test-ready” §§ Streamlined admission to Kingsborough Community College and counseling regarding other City University programs You must be at least 18 years of age to enroll, and at least 19 years old to take the New York State exam. Certified instructors provide review and practice under simulated test conditions to help prepare students for the NEW verbal reasoning, optional essay portion, and problem-solving skills measured by the revised test. Study skills, coaching and test-taking tips are provided, as well as individual and group conferences with a certified college counselor. A workshop for parents and guardians is included in the last session. The textbook is available for purchase in the College’s bookstore and should be brought to all class sessions.
