A message from the Dean Kingsborough Community College’s Office of Continuing Education is an ideal resource center in an exigent economy for those wishing to upgrade their skills, explore new technologies or acquire certifications in growth related industries. We offer our students innovative, employer oriented certificate programs that keep pace with workforce trends in high-demand fields such as healthcare, food service and taxi license preparation. Our job readiness training programs can lead our students toward exciting new careers. We can also provide customized corporate training, on or off-site, to help make your organization or company more efficient and productive. The flexibility and affordability of our curriculum enables our students the opportunity to attain their educational and career goals in their spare time, and our intimate class sizes allow for more personal attention from our highly-trained faculty. NHA Certification Exams National Healthcareer Association (NHA), the designated organization for determining certification standards for healthcare professionals, offers current healthcare workers, union members, and graduates who successfully complete one of the following approved training programs, the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency in their field. The costs of the NHA certification exams are eligible for VA reimbursement and NHA certification is recognized by 1199/SEIU. CPT is a systematic linking and coding of procedures and services used in outpatient settings. This coding is required for billing and reimbursement by insurers. The Kingsborough Simulation Center for Emergency Care and the Health Sciences KINGSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE, IN COLLABORATION WITH ITS OFFICE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION, is now a recognized American Heart Association (AHA) Training Site. We offer AHA courses for healthcare personnel such as, but not limited to, paramedics, EMTs, nurses, surgical technologists, physician assistants, certified nurse aides, physicians and dentists. We also offer other AHA life-saving courses such as First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use. All of our instructors are credentialed by the AHA, seasoned professionals, and have been carefully selected to provide instruction and proficiency in these areas. For more information or to register, call 718-368-5050 The course fees include: Tuition, registration fee, books, and certification card (if successful). We can also create additional courses to meet your organizational needs. Due to strict AHA policies, however, we do require a minimum number of students in each course in order to maintain an acceptable instructor: student ratio.

RTP 41 Advanced Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers (ACLS) (T) This advanced highly interactive course provides the skills to highlight the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, immediate post-cardiac arrest care, and the identification and initial care of other life-threatening clinical situations such as a stroke. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. Using the latest 2010 AHA guidelines, there will be large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented and reviewed. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT) Kingsborough Community College is a New York State Department of Health certified training center, and is pleased to offer an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course designed for first-responders to medical emergencies. This EMT Certification program prepares you for the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services Certification, which is valid for three years. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are the first members of the health care team to respond to a medical emergency.

Tuition is $995 plus a $15 materials fee. Applicants must be able to read and write English, be at least 18 years of age, pass a pre-registration screening placement exam, and possess a CPR for healthcare providers certification.

This workshop guides participants through a typical commercial lease and alerts them to provisions that can lead to an unfavorable lease. Participants will learn the “language” of a lease: “triple net,” “escalations,” “demising walls,” “CAM charges,” etc. They will also learn about their rights as a commercial tenant in NYC. This workshop helps participants understand what type of lease provisions and concessions they can typically negotiate with a landlord. Commercial landlords will learn the basics of structuring a tenant lease.

To avoid disappointment, you should register for your class as early as possible. Some courses fill quickly; others may be cancelled before the first day of class due to low enrollment. Choose from one of five ways to register:
