Vacation Plus Film (4 week course) Who is this course for?

This course is ideal for students who want to combine their English language studies with an introduction to filmmaking and film theory for a 4-week time period during the summer, yet still have plenty of free time to explore their surroundings and practice their English outside of class. No prior film experience is necessary.

Course structure and content Students receive 20 lessons (15 hours) of English and filmmaking per week. Topics vary each week, but students receive in-depth instruction of pre-production, production, and postproduction through lectures, interactive communicative activities, and hands-on participation. Group work is an essential element of this course so attendance is critical to students’ success in the course. Course content includes: Lessons will cover the following: creenwriting: story structure, concept àS development, visual storytelling methods, script formatting.
àA cting basics: techniques for role preparation, working within a frame, playing according to shot size, expression through body and language. roduction: filming techniques, cinematic àP framing, lighting and sound. àP ost-production: video editing techniques and practice, color correction, sound editing. àC ontemporary filmmaking: the history of Hollywood — the business of making films, from blockbusters to independent film

Assessment
Transfer agreements

Assessment is based on weekly assignments, group participation, and tests.
Kings LA offers transfer agreements with the New York Film Academy and the Musicians’ Institute.
Student-produced short films and scenes can now be viewed on a dedicated Kings YouTube channel
