THE PERFECT PATH TO AN ELITE US EDUCATION
Together, Kings Education and Rutgers Prep offer younger international students the perfect path to academic success in the USA. The Kings International Study Center based on campus is the ideal place to prepare for life and learning at the main School. From there, students have a range of wonderful opportunities for further study at elite universities. Rutgers Prep has a respected 250-year relationship with Rutgers University, assuring direct and guaranteed progression. Equally, opportunities exist for guaranteed entry to the Kings On Campus Plus program — offering pathways to the US Top 100 universities.
Managed Integration to the Main School The process of fully integrating a young international student into any large high school needs careful management. Often younger students can feel overwhelmed by the scale, traditions and demands of an elite US school. This is why Kings and Rutgers Prep work very closely together to ensure the transition from ISC to main School is smooth and enjoyable. That way, every student will be fully prepared and ready to excel.
Flexible Progression Students who meet the academic and language requirements can enter Rutgers Prep directly from age 13+ (see page 13). Depending on their age, students enter the School at Years 9, 10 or 11. Students aged 13 – 14 also have the option of completing the Boarding School Bridge Program (see page 14), with terms of High School Preparation at the International Study
Center first if needed. This program is run by Rutgers Prep for 8th grade international students to spend a year preparing for American high school—serving as a bridge between middle school and high school. Alternatively, older students aged 16 – 18 can take the American College Bridge Program (see page 14), with terms of High School Preparation at the International Study Center first if required. This unique program is run by Rutgers Prep exclusively for Year 12 international students to provide a direct pathway to Rutgers University, or alternative elite university options.
Guaranteed Pathways to University The American College Bridge Program provides guaranteed acceptance from Rutgers University if the University entrance requirements are met. (See page 14). Students also have guaranteed progression to a Kings OnCampus Plus degree program (see right).

EXTRACURRICULAR LIFE
Music The Rutgers Preparatory School Music Department is dedicated to giving each student a complete musical experience. To achieve this goal, students are encouraged to take part in the Independent Music Instructor Program, a private music instruction program that matches students with dedicated professionals from the Tri-State area.
Independent Study
A Rutgers Prep education is focused on developing the whole person. The broader the interests of a student, the more likely they are to impress university admissions staff. That is why at Rutgers Prep, every student is encouraged to develop interests and learning outside the main lesson program.
Independent study is available for particularly motivated students who want to pursue a subject area that is not offered in the formal curriculum. Working with faculty mentors, students develop and research subjects of intense interest for academic credit. Recent independent study topics have included: Playwriting, Organic Chemistry, History and Literature of Ancient Ireland, Restoration and Reconciliation Ecology, and Using Web 2.0 to Aid Schools in Developing Nations.
Community Service Community service is an important part of life and values at Rutgers Prep. All students are required to perform a minimum of 10 hours Community Service per academic year in order to move onto the next grade or to graduate. Of this, 5 hours must be with projects outside the School within the local community. The School also recognizes Honors Level in Community Service for those students who complete 50 or more hours per academic year. Students can exercise leadership in this area through the Community Service Board, which organizes events, publicizes opportunities and encourages service in general.

Homestay Coordinator
8:1 Student/Teacher ratio
There is also a Homestay Coordinator, who oversees the Homestay Program. They can offer support and guidance to students whenever they have any personal concerns or problems which need addressing.
Additionally, with the low 8:1 student/ teacher ratio at Rutgers Prep, students will find that their teachers are always accessible for extra help and support as required.
