Required City of Los Angeles Traveler Form Travelers arriving into LAX from outside California are required to fill out the online City of Los Angeles Traveler Form, acknowledging they have read, understand and will abide by the LA County Department of Public Health’s Travel Requirement, and understand the State of California’s Travel Advisory. Travelers over the age of 16 must submit this form online prior to or upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport, Van Nuys Airport, or Union Station. Failure to submit the form is punishable by a fine of up to $500. Traveler form: travel.lacity.org

Getting to Hollywood By international flight: Please go through passport control and customs inspection, and then collect your luggage. Then go to the main hall area. The driver will be holding a sign: “KINGS EDUCATION MEETING POINT.” (Please note: the driver will arrive to meet you 45 minutes after your scheduled plane arrival time.) The driver will be wearing a face mask and will expect you to wear one too, in the airport and during the journey.

By domestic flight: Please collect your luggage and wait for your driver inside the baggage claim area. Our representative will be holding a sign: “KINGS EDUCATION MEETING POINT.” If you cannot find your driver: Go to the closest Airport Information Desk and wait for the driver to find you. If you still cannot find your driver or if your flight is delayed: Please ask the clerk at the Information Desk for help in calling Kings at +1 310-339-6300. Alternative emergency number: +1 888-311-1591. Once you meet our transfer service, your driver will take you directly to your host family or student residence. The driver will be wearing a face mask and will expect you to wear one too, in the airport and during the journey.

From Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Kings Los Angeles on public transportation: Lyft or Uber app car service: Download the application to your phone, create an account, and connect a credit card. At the airport, follow Ground Transportation signs to Ride Service pickup locations on the departures/upper level. Use the app to select the pickup location nearest you and call a car. Check the license plate and driver before getting in. * Fare can vary depending on traffic and demand. Usually LAX to Hollywood is approximately $30 – 50.

To host family accommodation If you are staying in host family accommodation and have not booked an airport transfer with Kings, we recommend using an official taxi service to take you to your host family on arrival. Follow the signs to the official taxi ranks outside the terminal building. Ensure you have your housing booking confirmation with the address ready to show the taxi driver. Also ensure you have enough US$ to pay for the ride (it is OK to ask for the price beforehand, even if it will be an estimate)

Getting to Kings Los Angeles From the Metro station

By bus

The Metro station is an easy 10-minute walk from Kings Los Angeles. The closest Metro station to Kings LA is “Hollywood/ Highland (Red line)”. From the station, it is a 9-minute walk to Kings Los Angeles.

There are several bus stops near Kings Los Angeles within a few minutes walk. #302 or #2 run on Sunset Blvd. between Santa Monica and Downtown.

Your first day at Kings Los Angeles

Arrival and induction You will be able to register, take part in orientation activities, see the campus and be shown the surrounding area. You will take an English placement test during orientation. This is nothing to worry about — we just want to assess your English level in more detail to make sure you are assigned to the right class. You will receive your detailed timetable in the morning of the second day so you will know your schedule for the rest of the week. You will receive your new Classmate login details during your first week — allowing you access to lots of interesting information and e-learning resources that will be used alongside your classes. A Kings staff member will take all new students on a walk around the local area during your first week, so you get to know the local environment and feel more at home. You will be able to find detailed information on social and enrichment activities and sign up for these activities as they are available. You will meet other students who are also new to Kings and start making friends right away!

Please arrive at school for 8.45am on the first day of your course. (Check your confirmation letter for details. Kings English students note that all courses start on Monday or, if that falls on a US public holiday, the Tuesday following) If you are traveling by public transport, please remember to wear a face covering Once at school, you will be required to wear a face covering while in communal areas such as reception, corridors and toilets. You may remove your face covering once you are in your classroom if your teacher instructs you to do so, though you are welcome to continue wearing one if it makes you feel more comfortable. Please ensure that you bring face coverings with you on your first day. You will notice directional signage around the school. Please remember to follow the signage as this will help you to maintain a safe distance from others On arrival to the school reception, you will be asked to sanitize your hands and your temperature will be tested


COVID-19

School Safety When you begin classes, please follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and teachers. We will conduct temperature checks every morning before class starts. There will be no weekly COVID-19 testing for all. If you do show symptoms, you will be required to show a negative test result before you can be let back into the school/residence. The reception area is protected by plexiglass barriers so please be respectful to keep your distance. Masks/face coverings are required inside and when gathering in groups outside. We fully encourage use of hand sanitizer whenever possible. They are in all common areas. In between classes, we will be spraying sanitizer in commonly used areas. Classrooms and all common areas will be cleaned and sanitized daily.

What happens if there is a positive COVID-19 case?

If there is a positive COVID-19 case, the student will have to leave the school and school residence immediately. It will be up to the student to find accommodation during this time. The school staff can assist with identifying and booking a hotel or other private accommodation for quarantining. The student is allowed to join classes online, if available. If there are more than 3 COVID-19 positive cases within the school during a 14-day period, all classes will be switched to online instruction..
